New and confused (Comcast, Infinitv 4)

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to NextPVR, actually just in the stages of seriously considering it as a replacement for WMC as my home PVR. So my setup currently works fine with WMC and an InfiniTV4 tuner with cable card but I'm looking to stay current and NextPVR seems the best next step. So my question is, will I lose any current channels with the switch to NextPVR? Specifically I do get HBO and I believe it's coded as copy-once but I could be mistaken about the details, if that channel won't work, will all the others assuming they are copy-freely? I was just looking for a quick answer regarding that before I take the time to setup NextPVR only to find out it won't work for m.

NextPVR, like pretty much every app other than WMC, can only view/record the copy-freely channels.

It can't view/record channels that have been marked copy-once/copy-never by your cable company.

I have Comcast digital starter and a Ceton Infinitv 6 PCIe tuner, and have recently decided to move to Next PVR. I have only one channel that is "copy once".
I've used SeverWMC with WMC to stream live TV to Kodi and know that "copy once" and "copy never" material do not stream, so the transition to NextPVR to do this for me is a no brainer.
Xfinity TV Go (Comcast's online streaming service) allows you to stream the channels you are subscribed to. I use Playon.tv to stream these to Kodi, so those protected channels "missing" in NextPVR are available for streaming elsewhere.
As far as movies are concerned, I have a vast collection that I managed with WMC and MyMovies and use PowerDVD to play these inside WMC. This was a major reason I've been hanging on to WMC. I've since found scripts for Kodi to call PowerDVD to play DVD and Blu-ray movies (mind you Kodi has built in players, I just like what PowerDVD provides).
I'm now able duplicate the functions I had with WMC, with the exception of playing "copy once" and "copy never" channels - something I don't miss as I can stream the missing channel.

I have had the same problems with setting up NextPVR with a Comcast digital box. I found a solution. See my post at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...tme+warner.

I have Comcast and InfiniTV 4 as well, and made the switch to NextPVR when Win10 came along. I didn't lose any channels at all. I have no problem recording HBO. Never tried streaming it to another PC, no no idea on that.
