More info
Video freezes for 4 sec then catches up on prime
Does it on all stations that are h264 but only 2 seconds on other stations
Doesn't do it on dvb-s (mpeg)

Cybetlink and Microsoft video decoder tested same result

I'll check this for you, but probably wont be today - working hard to finish some day job stuff.

They may have increased the GOP size on this channel. This is the time between complete pictures in the stream (i-frames). Between complete pictures are partial pictures (b-frames and p-frames). Alternatively, they may have increased the audio/video packets in the stream, which can also have an effect on this.

One client machine shows the freeze and its still on old version
yeah it used to just freeze then not carry on which would be fixed with a short skip

Is this client/server issue, or also happens when you do it directly on the server?

I'm seeing the same thing here. When I skip in a recording from Prime, I almostly instantly hear the audio, but it takes a couple of seconds until the video starts playing. The same action is much quicker on TV One.

I'm trying to find out why.

When broadcasters mux the audio and video streams together, into the transport stream that they broadcast, they usually include the audio packets a little ahead of the video packets. It's usually about 500ms or so ahead. In the case of Prime, for some unknown reason, it's nearly 3 seconds ahead.

When the Microsoft demux splits this data, it's delivers a lot of audio data, which you have to sit through, before it'll delivers any video data. It's not too bad at the start of playback, but a bit annoying when you're trying to skip. I'm looking for a way around it this behaviour. I have limited control over the demux though.
