Sub

Any thoughts of a video add-in instead of a pvr add-in? I get the sense (haven't dug into the api) that the pvr add-in interface is somewhat limited and being a video add-in leaves you to do as you please. I know this is the direction SD went.

I can't speak for sub, but I think if you want more of the video addon, you should look at XNEWA. It does everything except LiveTV (including scheduling or recordings). Right now I use XNEWA for almost all my NPVR interactions in Kodi and use the PVR addon part just for LiveTV. There's a separate subforum at the top of this forum for XNEWA.

And (shameless self promotion here), if you use my mod'd Confluence (there's a thread on that in the XNEWA section), you can get pretty decent looking integration with Kodi. The trick is to set XNEWA to use the Confluence skin instead of its generic default one.

x-newa does live tv just not time shifting and I have been asking sub for help with that too but it doesn't look like it will make it for 2.4.8

Hi,

Could you possibly post the link for this please?

I note that with X-newa, you can pause and resume but not rewind. How does NPVR deal with time shifting files? I have a 4GB RAMDisk set up and everything just seems to work OK.

The reason I ask is that on every other PVR backend I have used, you have to specify how many files you want to use for live TV and how big you want each file to be. That way, you can control how much space can be utilised by X number of clients at the same time and avoid crashing the server. I was just wondering how NPVR deals with this without my having to change any settings.
PVR Server - Windows 7, running Stablebit (Drivepool and Scanner). G1840, 12GB RAM, 2 x 2TB HDD, 1 x 6TB HDD, Hauppauge HVR-2200, Hauppauge Nova HD-S2.

Clients - 3 x Raspberry Pis, running Libreelec.

Here is the link for Confluence Jarvis http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ntegration not sure if Confluence in Krypton are supported.

Sub doesn't support time shifting for http clients like x-newa and nlite. Until he does two options exist in x-newa,

1) you can configure the streaming type to be pvr which uses sub's pvr.addon for streaming live tv. That mode is not 100% reliable even directly in the PVR applications so I don't use it YMMV
2) Configure x-newa to use timeshifting. Effectively this just records the current show plays it and deletes it when you stop but it provides navigation and pause a whole show. I use this for sports, shows don't role over to the next one.

Unfortunately in the new nlite mode you need to use Kodi to navigate since NextPVR doesn't provide navigation actions in live tv. I might change the default to Kodi for this mode in the future
