Newer models of the HDHomerun provide EPG data free from Silicon dust. It would be a killer feature to be able to pull that data into NextPVR for some of my channels. I'm not sure how to accomplish this, but it is possible. Have a look at the Native PVR addon a user on the Kodi forums created. I'm not sure how far in advanced the EPG data is provided, but it would be a great option for someone who does not have a paid EPG provider. At least in the USA, receiving the EPG from the OTA channels is poor. They only provides 1 or 2 shows out. What do you think?

A quick look at the code, it looks like the epg data is sourced within src/HDHomeRunTuners.cpp using the HDHomeruns unique ID.

Paying for the Schedules Direct data makes more sense. It is o cheap and well supported. Data is not free when downloaded from SiliconDust, it is free with their app which graps it on demand not for two weeks. Even with their own $60 DVR the data costs money "Early access to the HDHomeRun DVR Progress Builds and 1 year TV guide subscription."

100% correct. Silicone doesn't give anything away for free.

Unless I mistaken, that link I posted is made by a 3rd party (not SD), utilizes Kodi's built in PVR integration, and does not require any users to pay for the guide data. It is not leveraging the HDHomerun DVR software at all; "All the channels, images and guide are auto downloaded from the tuner and hdhomerun.com"

Grabbing it on demand is not a terrible option compared to the OTA EPG delivery system in the US. By the time I go and watch the data is already outdated.

Anyways, it was just an idea. If it is deemed not worth it I totally understand. Thanks for reading and providing feedback.

On demand for current shows is fine for Kodi live tv plugin but for a PVR it sucks. Kodi PVR integration doesn't mean you get recording capability. This source for pvr.hdhomerun is clear.

pCapabilities->bSupportsRecordings = false;

I think there are other backends that grab the EPG data from ATSC signals more often then NextPVR, but it seems pointless effort to save a user a cup of coffee a month.
