Would be great to have a Android TV and/or an iOS App....every corner I turn still brings me back to NextPVR as my bank end but lets face it...with the advent of our clients now being devices like a Nexus Player, Apple TV, iPhone, Android Phone etc. it really would be great to have a native app to connect to the NextPVR server.

Pretty please, with sugar on top :-)
Specs
Server: Intel Gen3 i7, OS-Windows 7 (64-bit), 8Gb RAM, 60Gb SSD OS drive, 8TB RAID5 Storage, 2 x dual tuner HDHomeRun (DVB-T)
Client: 4 x Intel NUC i3 4Gb RAM, 120Gb SSD
Client: Samsung [AU][DVB-T][2013]BD-F6500 skipping broken

I am currently running Kodi with X-Newa (web interface) on an NVidia Shield (Android TV) which works pretty well and approximates a native app with all the solid playback of Kodi.
My Plugins: PhotoFilter, MusicMonkey, Windows Desktop Gadget

A smart device aware website would probably be easier to implement than native iOS and android apps. Though there is no reason someone couldn't develop one. The Api is fairly well defined.

Been down the X-NEWA route and for a Sony Android TV (to meet the WAF) would need to be more "integrated" and "remote" friendly....in saying that I haven't attempted to use X-NEWA in a while, has anything changed?

On top of the above, having a native transcoder that's rock solid with various profiles would be fantastic.

From a Kodi perspective x-newa web client (for this example) does map pretty much every key that is used fo NextPVR to Kodi keys except playback which are the Kodi defaults. I don't try to map them for specific remotes, but Kodi is pretty configurable that way. If launching Kodi itself is a problem, that would be the case for any app, but if it isn't then auto-launch into web client can always be setup.

I'd be dead keen on an Ios client. An actual app as its always more intuitive than a web interface. Obviously there would have to be transcoding done at the "server" end but if this could be done so I can stream recorded TV remotely to my IOS devices it would be amazing.

I pay $15 a month for netflix, I've paid 10 or so dollars to buy the IOS client app for Plex server and likewise I'd be happy to pay between 10 and 20 dollars for an easy to use NextPVR client for IOS that lets you play recorded programs and view the guide and schedule recordings.

The new EWA is a big improvement and for guide and scheduling works pretty slick on an Iphone from the quick glance I've had with it but you still can't play recordings remotely to ios.

2 x 500GB SATA3 WD Black in a Windows Stripe for recordings
All hidden in the garage with an Intel i5 NUC and a logitech Harmony one remote in the lounge for playback.

I do have an iOS application created, but I haven't submitted it for the Apple app store review process yet.

OOOH. Does live tv or recordings require transcoding though? Or is that device dependant, 5s yes, 6s no?

Yes, requires server side transcoding to http live. I've tried it various iPhone and iPads.

If I get time, I'll try to make a video a bit later.
