XMLTVGUI is no more

This is a FYI for anyone using Alan Birtles' excellent XMLTVGUI for EPG downloads. You will know by now that it no longer works due to changes at the Radio Times. I emailed Alan to see if he planned to update it (the last version update was in 2011) and he says he hasn't time to do so.

End of an era...

Definitely the end of an Era, been using the Radio Times feed for well over a decade (on BTV before I moved over to NPVR) and despite a number of outages over the years, have always loved the quality of the data it returned. The issues with the replacement Metadata Atlas feed make it not worth the effort required to jump through the hoops needed to get consistent 1-2 week EPG listing.

It will be sorely missed but at least we have a couple of good alternatives with much better OTA listings than the USA get and Schedules Direct (which I have just subscribed to) which gives much better series info and only took around 15 minutes to transfer over to.

Yes, I've done the same. My 7-day trial period runs out shortly so I guess I'll have to shell out....
