Most of my channels are H.264 I there a way to autodetect them and change the service type? I did not see any way to do this but manually each channel.

It can't currently auto detect them with an HDHR Prime, so you need to manually change them.

Is there a way in the future to query the Prime Web Page for this ?? It is indicated in the Web Page if t is H264. See attached.

Possibly. I don't have one of these devices, or anyway to use one here in New Zealand, so I'm dependent on information from users.

Does the http://<ipaddress>/lineup.xml given any indication of whether channel is H.264/MPEG2? It never used to. This is what NextPVR uses for adding channels from an HDHR Prime.

Alternatively, can you see some other place the web page gets it's information from? ie, best to not try parsing the page, because it'll eventually get broken when SiliconDust change the layout. Better to use the underlying data.

Not with my Prime - no indication whatsoever.

Further, the info from my Prime's web page doesn't distinguish the presence of h.264 at all. My provider is Verizon FiOS. So it seems that the info on the web page is provider dependent.

What homerun setup version and firmware are you on? I am at Firmware: 20160630atest2 . I just used the web page as a reference to setup 1 tuner on 1 prime then copied it over to the other tuners and other prime.
