I just downloaded NextPVR to replace my WMC setup. One thing I noticed is that I get a considerable amount of artifacts on the screen when I pause and then try to rewind a few frames back. As I keep pressing rewind, the picture gets considerably worse to the point where I have no idea what I'm rewinding to. I can probably only press rewind three times until I can't make out what's on the picture at all.

I use a HDHomerun Prime and I have mixed results depending on the decoders I use.
I tried the LAV decoders and when I pause and rewind, it freezes and then go fast forward very fast.

When I try the MainConcept MPEG2 demo decoders. It doesn't freeze, but there are artifacts. I don't really see artifacts when I'm watching normal tv, its just when I pause or rewind and it takes about 5 seconds to recover.

Does anyone else have an issue like this? Any tips would be appreciated, thanks.

Don't use the LAV decoders for video. These decoders have odd behaviour and work badly in NextPVR.

The problem you're describing is probably related to decoders you're using. I don't see this here, and don't remember others mentioning it.

Okay -- I can believe its a decoder problem using the LAV filters since it seems to get better when I use the MainConcept MPEG2 demo decoders.

Out of curiosity, are the any alternative free decoders to try instead? If not, I'll purchase the decoders from MainConcept. Thanks.

The Microsoft decoder used to be a great free option for MPEG2, but that decoder is gone in Windows now.

You could try the ffdshow decoder (you need to explicitly enable MPEG2 though, which is unticked by default during install).
