DWM.exe and Next PVR Issues since W10 Anniversary Update

Since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update whenever I watch Live TV using NextPVR after an hour or two (Attached actually took 3 hours plus) I receive an out of memory error that lists npvr.exe as the culprit although looking at Task Manager it would sure seem to be an issue with DWM.exe. NPVR.exe seems to be the only program having this issue, at least I've not received a similar error after using Chrome or Plex to stream shows or recordings. Any thoughts or others that are having a similar issue? Logs and screenshots attached.

I see a lot of windows reize and quick OSD updates which probably means you aren't full screen and use a mouse. I know the DirectX memory garbage collection used behind the scenes can be slow, and it is worse with image art. Are things better full screen without the mouse?

I had the same issue with dwm.exe (Desktop Window Manager) memory use spiking to 2+ GB. In my case Windows wanted to close Firefox but I pretty sure it just displays the user program with the highest memory use.

After it happened 15+ times and I couldn't correlate it to a cause, I rolled back the Anniversary Update before the 10 days ran out and blocked the update. Never had the issue before the Anniversary Update or after rolling it back.

Worst MS update I've seen in years and they didn't start rolling out fixes quickly. Wound up rolling it back on my Venue 8 Pro too where it broke Office activation verification and mouse clicks in RDP sessions.

When dwm.exe memory use spikes, you can kill it with Task Manager and it will restart and restore all your windows automatically.

They have released two new updates and they are rolling out now. Windows 10 cumulative update KB3176936 and KB3176934. Maybe a fix is in there. I know they are trying to reverse course on the depreciation and blocking of x264 video streams for webcams. Although the reasoning was so more than one application could be using the webcam at the same time.

One of my biggest issues with Windows 10 AU is the 12 hour Update restart window. I manually my for days a head and will manually update after all my reencoding/transcoding is done. Last time it update I lost several items that Handbrake was converting for me.

They need to let us disable automatic update restarts instead of 12 hour active time frame.

The program is used in full screen and yes with a mouse but this same thing happens regardless of the window size etc. The main reason for the resizing during this time was when I was taking the screen grabs and opening and closing Task Manager. Besides, it worked fine prior to updating to the this latest version of Windows 10.

No argument regarding "Worst MS update in years". I, like you have had no previous issues until this latest update. Hopefully there will be a fix at some point in the future. Until then I'll use a different program to watch live TV as the issue does not happen when it's just recording shows in the background.

Yes and I updated last evening and then tested it by watching Live TV and the same thing happened so no fix for this particular issue yet.

I've got the anniversary update installed here, and have just tried to reproduce. The memory usage of dwm.exe hasn't really changed over the last 40 minutes. I'll leave perfmon monitoring it's memory usage over the next hour or so.

+1 I have Win 10 Anniversary with the newer updates (on a client) and have been running two hours and NextPVR is 235MB and DWM is 35MB. FWIW I am still using MS DTV-DVD Decoder for h264 and mpeg2

Yeah it's memory still hasn't really budged for me.
