NextPVR Client and Server, I cant get them to connect...

I have NextPVR setup on my HPmicroserver as a backend and Kodi on my HTPC with the NextPVR plugin and that is working.

I would like to try the NextPVR client on my HTPC but I cant get it to connect to the backend,

Under NEXTPVR/DEVICES on my HTPC I have Act as a Client ticked and my Server name "PROLIANT" entered in the server name text box, the database share is "\\PROLIANT\npvr", the Send WOL is also ticked.

I can ping "PROLIANT" from a dos prompt on the HTPC.

If I then choose LIVE TV on my client I get a msg, "No Channels have been setup, These can be setup on the settings>devices screen"

On that screen, it just says "initialising device scan", all the other buttons on this screen and grey except for OK/CANCEL

I am sure I am just missing something obvious!

I should add, I am only wanting to try the NextPVR client as although Kodi with the NextPVR client is working, It sometimes freezes when watching live TV and I am trying to see if the issue is Next PVR or Kodi.

So I tried the web interface instead and tried watching some live TV, after choosing a channel and click play it take around 6 seconds of the spinning wheel before the channel begins to play but after 2 seconds of playing the picture freezes. I can still click back.

Kodi on the other hand load the channel almost instantly and will happily play but will stutter the audio briefly every 20 secs or so...

If you open the file explorer on the client, and browse the \\PROLIANT\npvr directory, do you see an npvr.db3 file in that directory? You need to restart the app after ticking/unticking 'act as client'.

On a working install, with channels and devices setup etc, the npvr.db3 will not be 0 bytes. It sounds like you don't have NextPVR working on your server then. Get NextPVR up and running on your server first, before you look at trying to add a client.

NextPVR is running on the server for sure, the web interface will pick up the TV channels and will let me watch live TV but only for 2 seconds before the picture freezes and Kodi running the nextPVR plugin is working fine with NextPVR backend.

http://proliant:8866/modern/index.html? brings up the NextPVR server web interface with What's New, etc etc etc...

Thanks Sub, sorted it....

Searched for nvpr.db3 on proliant and found another in Users\Public\NVPR,

changed the client datashare pointer to that folder and now I have audio on live TV but need to configure video decoder....

I knew it was something stupid, (namely me!)

If you look on the server, what size is c:\users\public\npvr\npvr.db3? If it's working, then this file is definitely not zero bytes.

From the client, looking at \\PROLIANT\npvr\npvr.db3, you should be looking at the same file, so it will also not be zero (if you're looking at the correct file, in the correct directory). It's zero, and non zero on the server, then you're not looking at the correct file.
