I hope someone (Sub?) can assist. I really want to get NextPVR working correctly. I’m so close and I love the program so far.

I was able to get past the EPG Update crashing issue by replacing the NTShared.dll file that was referenced in another thread.

But now I am getting a crash when scanning for channels, not while doing the EPG Update. I am still using the patched NTShared.dll file.

I also captured all of the running processes using Process Monitor. It looks like something is causing a Buffer Overflow.

System: Windows 10 64-bit clean install.
NextPVR Version: 3.7.7
TV Signal Sources: 2 x SiliconDust HDHomerun Prime with Cable Cards – These were successfully channel scanned, but now NPVR crashes when scanning these also.
TV Signal Source: 1 x SiliconDust HDHomeRun Extend. I have not been able to scan channels for this device.

HomeRun Setup has successfully scanned the channels. HomeRun Viewer can view all channels on the Prime and the Extend.

The attached zip file contains. The ProcMon capture, the NPVR.log, the Event Viewer entry, crash.mdmp, and a screenshot of the crash. Please let me know if you need more info.

Thank you, mvallevand. I tried the patches and got the same result.

The mdmp doesn't seem to provide any useful clues in this case.

Can you post the npvr.log from immediately after the crash? That npvr.log in your log file just shows the application being started - no scan.

This time I ran the scan and it never crashed with the "NextPVR stopped working" message, but it instead it just hung and eventually went to "Not Responding." CPU usage is showing a steady 25 for nextpvr.exe. Ok, now it eventually just crashed and closed. Log attached.

Thanks for the help!

Hmm, I'm still not seeing any sign of a scan starting in that log. It looks like you started NextPVR, watched a short period of NFLHD, then went to the Settings->Devices screen.

Yes, I opened NextPVR, right-clicked to get to the menu for Settings and must have hit Live TV instead. Closed Live TV, then went to Settings, Devices, clicked the HomeRun Extend entry, Device Setup, then clicked the Scan button. I believe it completely bombs and doesn't even have a chance the append the Scan logging to the log. Were you able to make any sense of the Process Monitor log? Did you see where it shows Buffer Overflow? I know it's a messy log. I can save it in the native file format of Process Monitor, and attach the file and you can view it if you install the Sysinternals Process Monitor. That is, if you think it will help.

Unfortunately that Process Monitor log doesn't really seem to tell me anything helpful.

When you hit the 'scan' button, do you at least see the scanning window appear on the screen?

Do you have a "C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe" file on your disk? ie, exactly that path and filename...
