Hi all
Total newbie so apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.
For years I have used my eyetv sat free module with the eyetv software. Having just moved to kodi, I wanted something to integrate the two. Nextpvr is fantastic! Managed to follow all the guidance. It finds my device and just works, so pleased!
The only issue I have is the lack of channels it obtains on scan. The eyetv software finds 500 free to air channels on whatever device I use (in the UK), but nextpvr is only finding 200. It is scanning the right frequencies but not picking them up. Some kind soul had posted an xml file with a few which I've been able to add (including channel 4 and 5 HD) but some that the family would want to use are still missing. Admittedly most are total junk :-) For example, there are 6 kids channels (tiny pop etc) at 11307 V 27500 2/3 (Astra 28 satellite). This frequency is scanned but no channels are found. I've repeated the scan four times now but can't find the droids I'm looking for!
Any ideas? I'm confident the device should get these channels fine as I've had them for years through the manufacturer software. Or does anyone have an xml file for dvb-s uk free to air/freesat.

Thank you!

Maybe try this patch http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post506814

If it doesn't help, do a scan, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Its also possible that you need to update your 028.2.ini file. Last week I updated my file as I was missing several channels as the frequency was not in the supplied ini file. If you are just interested in Freesat channels that this file is useful:-
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ht=freesat
However if you are interested in none Freesat channels as well then they are available from numerous web sites.

Thanks both for such quick replies
I'll give these a try and report back.
Just a quicky. I literally only downloaded and started using nextpvr yesterday morning so do you think it's still possible I need to update the .ini file or would it have been current in latest version?
Nice to see an active forum!

Hi sub,
tried the patch and the updated .ini file but no change. I watched the scan this time and there is a clear frequency block after 11097 where it's not picking up the channels from the scan. All the channels I know that are missing fall in this block (i.e mid to low 11000s).
anyway log attached, hope it reveals something.
thanks so much for the help

Martin

That has helped a bit thank you. Still some frequencies in the mid 11000s where it's not picking up channels, but it has added quite a few. The main offending block (11307) is still empty but definitely a step in the right direction (ITV3 is another one I can't track down). Thanks! I wonder why it's not picking up the rest. Hopefully my log will show something. I did run the eyetv software again as a test to compare and it got them all straight away.

The big advantage of Ian's Freesat ini file is it only lists 42 transponder frequencies but the ini from King of Sat etc list 108 transponder most of which are unwanted.

The NextPVR supplied 0282.ini is dated Aug 2015 and was missing one Freesat frequency 12129.00 but is in both Ian's Freesat ini and the King of sats ini.

However using an up to date ini will only add 2 missing channels!

Looking at the log all seems ok up to 11112MHZ with signal :- locked=1, present=1, strength=-400, quality=40 (took 0ms to check)

But for higher frequencies the characteristics are :-locked=0, present=0, strength=-500, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

It looks like a signal quality problem. Is the dish correctly aligned?

Also check you've got the appropriate LNB settings. Incorrect settings will often give this type of behaviour.

Yes, you may still need an updated ini file - unfortunately the satellite companies are not sending me ini files with update tuning info whenever there is changes Big Grin

In reality, in most parts of the world I never know the tuning information is out of date unless someone tells me. They'll often supply an updated file for me to include in the next release. From time to time I also update the ini files from various internet sources. In no way should it be considered "entirely up to date".
