X-NEWA Usage

Hello.

I've been trying mightily to research and gain the knowledge of how to get live TV on my Android tablet using the following three components:
1 - NextPVR
2 - X-NEWA
3 - Kodi

NextPVR works perfectly on my main desktop. I have several NextPVR client machines(a laptop and another desktop) and they work well also. X-NEWA seems to be what I want to move to for operations outside of my LAN especially on my Android tablet. How is this done? I tried several "step-by-steps" and did indeed get live TV for a few brief seconds but I have yet to do it again even after again following the step-by-step. I don't fully understand how these three parts work together. The documentation I've looked at seems to be well out-of-date. Are they still correct?

x-newa is a plugin for Kodi if the Kodi PVR doesn't work you can try x-newa. However x-newa web client won't work on a tablet because it lacks touch support. The x-newa native client has very limited touch support and the alpha I recently released does use sub's transcoding server so it might help with Android playback problems.

X-NEWA also uses whatever connection Kodi is using, so it won't help you when you're not on the same LAN as your NextPVR machine unless you use a VPN or something like it.

Not true, by transcoding to mp4 m3u8 it is more portable to more devices and can be configured to use less bandwidth then Kodi. 1080i MPEG2 is particularly difficult for many machines.

OK, Martin, thanks for the reply. Now, this is what I heard...

1 - You differentiated between an x-newa web client and an x-newa native client. Which one should I try to use? Where do I find them?
2 - I see no way to tell Kodi to use the x-newa add-on and not the NextPVR add-on. Is that the way it works? So far, Kodi complaints about no PVR when I enable TV.
3 - Should both the NextPVR and x-newa add-ons point to the same NextPVR Server machine?

I know I'm getting in the weeds and questions are many. I hope you'll hang in there.

Web client is the NextPVR UI in Kodi, x-newa also has a native interface. There server ip is the same, the stick should answer your other questions. The video showing the installation should now go to xnewa.netai.net for the repo but since you are going for mp4 transcoding you need the alpha http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-0-Alpha-2 so just install from the zip
