I have updated the wiki with the notes for the upcoming release of NextEnd the sports and show extender. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ty.NextEnd I hope to release version 2 for this weekend's games if you have any questions on the usage options or feature suggestions you can post them here.

For background NextEnd has around for a couple of years using a web service that went offline when Google cancelled some personal app support. Slugger the original SageTV developer ported in to run locally and skiingwiz put it on github and reworked it as a Java plugin for the SageTV web server. I can provide some assistance if you want to run the server locally. The good news for now is that I am now running a cloud server for NextPVR users so the original functional is back. However I also did add functionalty so that Schedules Direct users can use their accounts to do a few monitor .

Thanks to BrettB and leaded1 for helping test this for release

I didn't upload it yet, I wanted to make sure people had a chance to get 160929 installed plus I wanted to tweak one feature which I just worked out this morning. If you want PM me your email and I can send it to you.

With football potentially impacting many shows tonight on Fox and CBS plus CTV here in Canada and with problems on Schedules Direct, I decided to open up the beta to everyone. I have updated the wiki linked in post 1 with current release.

For now if you don't want to be bothered with updating batch files to test today, you can manually run NextEnd from the command line

start /b "" "%PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\NPVR\NextEnd.exe" --monitor > NULL
or on 32bit
start /b "" "%PROGRAMFILES%\NPVR\NextEnd.exe" --monitor > NULL

Check the wiki for additional options (ie, --jit, --sd) that can be used with the monitor.

Also you still need to setup ParallelProcessing.bat to run NextEnd on follow-up recordings.

Note that if you do want to extend sports recordings and also have the NextPVR feature enabled, if SD stays down your games won't be extended. If you turn off NextPVR extending in config.xml NextEnd should work from an alternate source

Martin, thank you SO much for reviving NextEnd!

A few questions just so I get it right... I looked over the wiki but I'm a bit confused on all the options. If we want multiple options are they stacked?

start /b "" "%PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\NPVR\NextEnd.exe" --monitor --early --postgame > NULL

or is each a separate line in the ParallelProcessing.bat and is the ">NULL" required as you put above? On the PostStartup.bat, would it be a good idea to also add the commands there also to ensure the monitors continue? I'm a bit fuzzy on when it's needed and not needed.

What I'd like to occur, and I'm not sure it's possible, is for example if on your channel 518, if the NFL game runs over that the "Once upon a Time" start & end time would be adjusted. I'm not sure that possible though with "sports time" in between.

Also, if I use --early along with --postgame will the recording get the additional 15 min or will it stop when the game is over with no additional 15 min?

Snag
NextPVR V6.1.5.231022 - Ubuntu 22.04 VM / 4 core / 8Gb memory
HDHR Prime X2 / HDFX-2 /Schedule Direct / 2X Pi4 + & 3X Pi3 LibreELEC Kodi clients
Server - TrueNAS/ SuperMicro MBD-X10SL7-F MB / Xeon E3-1246 / 32Gb Unbuffered ECC / 8 X 4TB RAIDZ2

The command lines options are stacked but --monitor and --oid doesn't make sense so only --monitor would run. I will separate the options better on the wiki Also --postgame need value in minutes

Quote:or is each a separate line in the ParallelProcessing.bat

You wouldn't use --monitor in parallel processing

Quote:and is the ">NULL" required as you put above?

The NULL isn't required but there is screen output from NextPVR this just prevents it from causing disruptions

Quote:On the PostStartup.bat, would it be a good idea to also add the commands there also to ensure the monitors continue? I'm a bit fuzzy on when it's needed and not needed.

Just the monitor kill and restart. ParallelProcessing will deal with recordings

NextEnd will not adjust the start time, because there is no guarantee that the start times aren't adjusted by the network Instead the --resume option sets a resume point to where it could be (without postgame padding)

Snag

Sort of. --early needs --cancel but but they don't impact followup reccording If a game ends early then the follow up games are extended to allow for this. eg if the game ends 10 minutes early the show will be extended by 5 minutes automatically.

What a good week for a testing , first the SD problem now there is a major storm delay in one game. CBS interrupted the game for the evening broadcasts but I expect they will come back to it. This is one reason I can't change the start time of programs but I am not sure what happens to my logic the more the delay goes on.

I have posted a new file to the wiki to correct a few problems in the monitor I noted during testing after the Sunday games.

Just want to confirm that I understand all of this thread:
Besides adding "> NULL" after "--monitor" are there other places I should add "> NULL" to avoid NextPVR disruption?
Do I have to download livePVRData separately from NextEnd?
I need to turn off extending in the NextPVR settings, right?
Other than "--sd" is there anything else I need to do for post-sports programs?
My understanding is that the only thing possible is to add post-padding to Sunday night programs, calculated based on the length of the sports that preceded them. So I cannot avoid the possibility of Conflict or Failure with a dual tuner if I plan to record three programs in a row, right?

Good questions here but the wiki is really the reference document, I am using this thread to help with the wiki.

Quote:Besides adding "> NULL" after "--monitor" are there other places I should add "> NULL" to avoid NextPVR disruption?

That was more for command line line but it doesn't ever hurt. In the NextPVR batch files it won't make too much difference

Quote:Do I have to download livePVRData separately from NextEnd?

Not currently. You can run an instance of the web server locally but since I didn't want to do this I created one, I made my server on the web and decided to share it with NextPVR users. If I decided to cancel it I will let users know and update the program.

Quote:I need to turn off extending in the NextPVR settings, right?

Not for sports extending.

Quote:Other than "--sd" is there anything else I need to do for post-sports programs?

--postgame possibly I will post an example in the next post.

Quote:My understanding is that the only thing possible is to add post-padding to Sunday night programs, calculated based on the length of the sports that preceded them. So I cannot avoid the possibility of Conflict or Failure with a dual tuner if I plan to record three programs in a row, right?

It extends the end time I found extending post-padding wasn't reliable but I might try that again. Also the --monitor option will reschedule late night talk and news etc. If you only care about Sunday use the --sunday option

Quote:. So I cannot avoid the possibility of Conflict or Failure with a dual tuner if I plan to record three programs in a row, right?

Right but as if as example your extended shows are all on CBS they still will use great sub's multi-rec feature and attempt use one tuner if they overlap for the extending period
