This is probably a stupid question but I'm trying to set up the NPVR/KODI interface on my client (I prefer NPVR but it's just freezing continuously and KODI doesn't) and am not having any luck. I'm wondering if the 127.0.0.1 IP address is correct when attempting to do this on a client rather than the server.

127.0.0.1 would work if the NextPVR server is on the same computer as your NPVR/Kodi client. Otherwise you need the IP address of the NextPVR server computer to configure the NPVR add on for Kodi.

That's the problem, I'm trying to set up KODI/NPVR on my NPVR client. Do you just need the IP address of the server instead of 127.0.0.1 when setting up the NPVR plugin?

What did you use for the PC client? If it wa a hostname type ping hostname from a command prompt. Note you might need to configure you host PC to have a fixed IP

I have a fixed IP for my server. I just need to know what to enter where it asks for the host name on the plugin. I've only been able to get JIM-PC to work in NPVR on the client. Frankly, I'm just totally confused as to how to get the NPVR plugin to work. I can see the NEWA setup on my server when using //127.0.0.1:8866, but that doesn't seem to work on the client NPVR plugin for KODI.

Sorry for the delay, Martin. I've got a spinal compression fracture when makes walking difficult and the server and client are at either end of the house! I tried ping JIM-PC a got a black window flashing by so fast I couldn't read it. I also tried ping 192.168 etc. and got a window which stayed open and indicated that address was unreachable. I don't know if that helps or not.

Open a command prompt and type the ping.

With pinging server JIM-PC the client says it gets a reply in 1ms. When pinging the server fixed IP the client says it's unreachable.

It appears I'm not going to get an answer to the proper setting for NPVR/KODI but it turns out it probably isn't necessary. I still have NPVR recording what I want on my server and after all these years that's pretty automatic. I've found the Mimic skin of Kodi on my client machine is a player that functions as well as NPVR did when it worked on the client. I still have to find a way to get my classical radio stations but I'm sure I can eventually work that out. For whater reason, Kodi is much more stable on my client machine than is the NPVR client, which has become almost unwatchable due to constant freezes and playback jittering. I'm reasonably sure that's Win 10's fault but until it's fixed Kodi is going to have to be my client viewer.
