Has anyone got KODI 17 working on a RPi2? I have the latest LibreElec Alpha installed on spare SD card and it is unusable as the video playback speed is erratic and the sound several seconds out of sync for both SD & HD recordings! I use X-NEWA but the problems also show if I play the same files directly in KODI. The PC version seems to run ok on my AMD powered low spec box.

Here's what I posted on the libreelec forum here:

Quote:I just began testing v7.90.005 on an RPi 3 (with MPEG-2 H/W license). My initial (upgraded) settings were:

"Adjust display refresh rate": "Off"
"sync playback to display": Off
"Allow hardware acceleration - OMXPlayer": Off
"Allow hardware acceleration - MMAL": On

"Audio Passthrough | Enable passthrough": On

And I am seeing dropped and skipped frames causing "jumpy" video (audio sounds OK, but it is the sync is messed up since the video is jumpy).

If I change just "Adjust display refresh rate" to "On start/stop", I still get dropped and skipped frames (although maybe not quite as bad?).

If I change just "Sync playback to display" to On, then the dropped and skipped frames (mostly) go away and the file seems to play OK. However, the CPU usage is considerably higher which leads to the Pi's thermal throttling kicking in (the yellow box in the upper right corner appears). If I let it continue playing, the box will then turn red (as the temperature continues to rise). If I pause the playback, then it will quickly cool off and the box goes away. This behavior leads me to believe that the hardware MPEG2 acceleration isn't being used. Sad

Since most people seem to be seeing the behavior on Intel NUCs, I'm now thinking that the problem may be something besides the MPEG2 hardware acceleration. But, I haven't taken the time to try to troubleshoot more yet.

Thanks I did look on the LibreElec forum but not under Bug Reports!

Luckily I installed the RPi2 LibreElec Alpha on a separate SD card so its simple to switch back to the stable version.

The latest Alpha seems seems a bit better on a PC but although it seems to play my NextPVR recordings OK in KODI there is often a delay of a minute before the same recording plays in X-NEWA.

I use Win 32 Kodi Krypton daily for months now and I don't see any delays starting recordings so I don't think it is a Kodi issue.

Ditto, running on a Pi2 and Pi3. No problems except on Pi2, the HDHomeRun plugin does not detect the feed, no problems on Pi3.

Edit: Running LibreElec 7.90.005 - Kodi 17.0 Beta1 (Sept. 01, 2016).

However, I don't think I created a new image, I upgraded from .004 via their update function.

There is now a 7.90.006, but you have me wondering if I want to upgrade to that version Smile

On my AMD powered nettop PC I installed KodiBuntu 14 which is quite old and updated to the latest KODI beta and updated to the latest Lubuntu 14 files. Kodi menu was unusable as the screen flickered and tore at evey Mouse or Remote movement.

Installed latest Lubuntu, KODI Beta and X-NEWA Beta2. HD and SD recordings play and skip correctly in KODI and X-NEWA! So this would suggest KODI is OK and the problem is with the LibreElec OS.

LibreElec 7.90.007 seems to have cured my RPi2 variable speed Video and Sound sync problems.

I've loaded LibreELEC version 7.90.004 that contains the alpha version of Kodi Krypton for Raspberry PI.
I'm able to watch streaming video over the internet.
However, I've been unable to watch live TV and recordings on my nextPVR server because the nextPVR addon is marked as being incompatible with the latest Kodi addon API.
Any idea when a compatible version of the Kodi NextPVR addon will be available?
