My system has been stable for months recording everything consistently (and with 'er indoors that means multiple simultaneous recordings every night). I updated from 3.7 to 3.8.3 160929 on Tuesday night. Everything appeared normal and the update looked like it was successful.

I'm now getting severe earache as most of the recordings failed to record on Wednesday and Thursday. The error on screen reads "No Errors but no data received. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal".

There are no apparent errors in the usual logs indicating anything's wrong. ndigitalhost -22 recording at 21:59 on 2016-10-13 was successful but ndigitalhost-23 recordings at the same time both failed.

Has anything changed in the new release which would affect this area of NPVR?

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

The message is implying that it's failing to lock onto a signal.

Are you sure any recordings work on that particular channel?

Is there a setting available that determines how long the program will try to lock onto a signal before giving up. Does this value also come into play during the recording? My reason in asking is that I use OTA and the signal can drop out for various reasons. I have a AVerMedia A188C PCie 2 tuner in my PC and a HDHomeRun Connect on the LAN. I think it can take longer to acquire and or/ reaquire the signal on the HDHomeRun than the AVerMedia.

This is really up to the device and it's driver.

The app itself doesn't give up. NextPVR will tell the driver what frequency to tune to, then will be happy to accept data from the device right up until the time the recording is due to stop. Its up to the device how it behaves if there is no signal, or loses the signal momentarily. Most devices will be continually trying to reacquire the signal, and will start delivering data as soon as it has a signal.

Yes the recordings work on those channels and I can watch live TV on them too. Cold Re-booted the system late yesterday to see if that cleared it and things looked to be working again then 2 further recordings failed tonight :-(

There's a pattern developing though. All the failed recordings are on ndigitalhost-23. Both 22 & 23 are linked to my satellite dish. Need to do some digging with the hardware I think. Suspect this is just a coincidence with the NPVR update and may in fact be a hardware issue.

Problem traced to dodgy cable connector on the back of the tuner card causing the link to the dish transponder to disconnect.
All fixed now. ......(and that includes the nagging :-) )
