http://127.0.0.1:8866/channels
http://127.0.0.1:8866/recordings

to get a m3u list of urls

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I came across this today and tried it using VLC; I tried both by downloading the .m3u8 file using a browser and then having VLC open it, and also feeding http://tv:8866/recordings to VLC directly. In both cases, the VLC screen fills with:
Code:
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://tv:8866/?recording=486158'. Check the log for details.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://tv:8866/?recording=280050'. Check the log for details.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://tv:8866/?recording=422019'. Check the log for details.
and so on...

I realize if this worked it would tell VLC to play every recording I have, not really what I want but I was just trying to see *something* work. I did also try feeding a few of the individual recording MRL's to VLC, same error.

Oh, I see the problem... the MRL's in the file are all wrong. They should be http://tv:8866/live?recording=xxxxxx. The "live" part is missing.

I checked and yes the syntax on the returned URL is likely wrong, it needs to be /live?recording=

funny that in over 18 months apparently no one else has tried this feature, or at least no one bothered to report that it didn't work (I was thinking on the idea of using one of the many IPTV apps for my LG TV to play recordings)

Yeah - it looks like it's missing the "/live" part of the url. I'm not sure anyone has really used this before, so it's probably always been broken.

This patch should fix it.

Since theses are not transcoded URL's it probably would be a waste of time on most players other than VLC and Kodi which can play the files through the file system.

Hello,

I'm just starting with NextPVR and I've run into the problem described by sle118 back in 2015. When I call an address from the M3U file, it takes over the tuner currently in use instead of cycling to the next available tuner. I've read through the thread, but I can't figure out if I'm calling the URL incorrectly, my url already contains the /live?channel=xx element.

Hoping somebody can help a noob.

TIA

Edit:

Just found this thread on Emby.

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/...le-tuners/

This is exactly what I'm trying to do. Does this mean I need to add a separate channel in the M3U for each "&client=xxxxx" ?

It depends on how you want to use the m3u list. If it is the same client then you don't need to worry about the client parameter if you have multiple clients using the m3u (not sure way outside Emby, given the personal use license of NextPVR) then you need to try to use the client parameter. Simply assigning a client doesn't mean the tuner will be available either.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the help. All the requests are coming from the same client (I assume you mean IP), which is Emby and is actually localhost. Emby allows X users to connect to an M3U playlist, where X is defined in config. Emby will just call the URL in the M3U (up to X times) to play each requested channel. When I play live TV in NextPVR directly, I can use both tuners, but through M3U, it consumes only the first tuner.

I know I'm doing something wrong, just not sure what.

Thanks for helping.

You'd need to add a unique "&client=x" parameter on the channel urls, or the m3u url, otherwise they're treated as the 'default' client.
