I first noticed this on Thurs night 5/3, when I had two shows recording from 9-10 pm and I was watching one of them pretty close to real time. At about 9:50, the playback simply stopped without me touching anything and went back to the program's info popup screen. It wouldn't start again (just black screen). The other show that was set to record ended prematurely at about the same time. The following night, no shows recorded successfully at all. They'd show up in the list of recorded shows, but they showed black when trying to play them back.

I tried a few things like rebooting, rescanning channels, and restarting the NPVR service, but I still couldn't get Friday night's recordings to play or live TV to work.

Friday night's recordings are listed, but say Failed and "No errors, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal."

Today, from the TV Guide, I select a currently airing show, choose Watch, I see a "please wait" for maybe 5-8 seconds, then the screen goes black and nothing happens.

The same thing happens when I choose Live TV.

I did notice there were only about 5 GB left on my hard drive, but I've cleaned up and the problem persists.

Recordings from prior to Thursday play back fine.

NextPVR version 3.9.2. Windows 7 64-bit. A Hauppage that I'm not using and a Ceton InfiniTV quad tuner that I am using. Logs attached. Thanks!

Solved. I don't know what exactly fixed the problem, but I went to the Ceton utility and "reset the device", the "rediscovered" the device, then went over to NextPVR settings and rescanned and reselected channels. I don't know if that first problem was related to running out of space on my hard drive, and whether that put me into this state, but I will probably peruse the settings to see if I can ensure that doesn't happen again.

Since I first ran into this problem and solved it (not sure how, see the thread), it has come up again about 4 times. One weird thing is that it seems to be coincident with my internet connection having troubles. Each of these times, Live TV stops working (just a black screen), PLUS if I look at my internet connection status in my Windows system tray, it says Unidentified Network | No network access. Is this just a coincidence, or is is something about my internet dropping that is causing TV to stop working?

I can solve it with an undefined shotgun of plugging/unplugging network cables, power cycling my network gateway, rebooting, resetting my tuner device, etc, but I'm looking for help identifying the root cause, because it's causing me to miss recordings when the tuner stops working.

Logs are attached again. Please help! Thanks.

This smells like an intermittent problem with a component of your local network. If it were me ... I would change one component at a time until the problem went away ... I would start with the network cable, then try a different port on the router/hub/ then try a different router/hub (if practical) ... it could also be a fault on the network adapter in the computer.

Thanks Graham. I can figure out the internet problem but thanks for the tips. But do you see any reason why a loss of internet would cause live TV in NextPVR to stop working because it seems to be related. If so, what should I do to work around it, given that internet connection problems are inevitable and I don't really see why NextPVR live TV needs the internet.

Your Ceton tuners use rtsp which is a network protocol. I believe you aren't just having Internet problems it is a bigger LAN issue. Some ideas here http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-uniden...rk-windows

Do you have your backend setup with static IP? In NRecord I see mixed things

2017-05-27 06:02:35.498 [INFO][16] IP Address: 192.168.0.11
2017-05-28 21:39:06.731 [INFO][16] IP Address: 192.168.200.2

Your Ceton is on the 200 subnet.

Thanks Martin. The most recent time this happened, I was able to get the internet working again by simply unplugging all the ethernet cables from my network switch and plugging them back in. Then I rebooted my computer and live TV started working again.

I skimmed that link you sent, tried a few things, but it was starting to look like things to try in order to get my internet working again and I already solved that problem. I'm just trying to figure out whether lost internet would affect live TV (sounds like yes) and why my internet just drops (not really a problem for this forum I guess!). But you've been very helpful.

I don't know if the switch I'm using is good. Or should it be a hub instead? I have a cable going in that comes from my cable modem gateway, all around the house, and two cables coming out, one to my PC where the Ceton is, one to my XBox 360 which I rarely turn on.

I also don't know what you mean by "backend." What is it that I should set to be a static IP?

I stand by my view that there is a problem with your local network. There appear to be at least two symptoms of the problem ... Firstly, your Internet connection doesn't work ... Secondly, problems with NextPVR

The NextPVR symptoms are not caused by the Internet symptoms (or vice versa) ... All of the symptoms appear to be casued by the local network problem.

Are you saying that the output from the cable modem is plugged into a switch(with a Ethernet cable) and then you have 2 ethernet cables coming out of the switch. With 1 ethernet cable attached to the PC and the 2nd ethernet cable attached to the Ceton.
