Wondering if I missed something obvious -

I added a m3u http list and epg http list to NextPVR and it worked fine. After a while the epg stopped working. I found an undated version of the epg list and thought I'd update it in NPVR.

The only way I could find to do it was to re-enter the m3u http address first. I did this but it just added all the channels again, so there was two of everything. I then had to delete all those channels and re-add the m3u address to get a single list of channels. Then I added the new epg http list and it works fine, except I now have to renumber all the replacement m3u channels.

So, am wondering, did I miss something seriously obvious, or is a there a way this could be made easier somehow ?

The IPTV stuff you're talking about is still fairly new to NextPVR. It'll get smarter on some of this stuff.

If individual channel need a change to it's EPG setup, your best bet is to go to the Settings->Channels and double click the channel, then tweak as required.

In this case, if all your channels needed an EPG setup change, your best bet was probably just to delete the channels, and redo the import.

Sure - each channel can have it's own EPG settings. You can change them on the Settings->Channels screen, by double clicking a channel.

The xml epg source specified on the 'IPTV import screen' will apply to all channels imported at that time, and a copy of the epg xml URL is stored within each channel. If you use the import function again, but with different channels and epg xml, those new channels will use the new epg xml, and the old ones will continue to use their original epg xml.

Sorry, not seeing how to do this. If I go to Settings>Channels, where it says 'XMLTV file:' I cannot edit the name of that file ('http:// etc') , only browse on my PC, whereas I need to edit it (I think) individually

I don't really want to import new channels with a new epg (in my case), am trying to import some channels from one list, but use two sources for the epg.

Ah, right. Support for http based xmltv files is new in the current release. It's only allowed local xmltv files up until now.

This this patch, which allows you to manually edit the URL on that screen.

Thanks. I copied the dll to program files (x86) > Npvr and it seems to work. Actually it allows me to change the XMLTV file ok but when I go back into that same tab it says 'root element is missing'.

Am trying to use this 'http://iptv.matthuisman.nz/au/sydney/epg.xml'

Was that the correct URL? When I try to view it in my browser, it's return 404 not found, which I suspect is why you're getting this error.

Try with a capital 'S' on Sydney

http://iptv.matthuisman.nz/au/Sydney/epg.xml

This is part of the problem with letting people type things in - they make mistakes. I might put some info on that screen to warn the user if it's an invalid URL.

You should see the channel mapping dropdown populate when you've entered a valid XMLTV EPG URL.

Thanks very much, seems to work now, including channel mapping. Tried updating one and then telling it to update the epg, which it doesn't seem to do - get the briefest flash of the update message then it disappears again. Maybe I should try updating a few more first...
