Thanks Graham. I'll keep plodding along, or maybe try it out on a Win7 machine.

There is a workaround to restart the recording service in the following link: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...y-Wakes-PC

I disagree with the comment there is a "known problem" and also with the idea that there needs to be daily restarts of the recording service.

That may or may not be known, but It's been a problem I've dealt with since I started using NPVR last Sept. I guess more people have the problem than I realized. I don't have to restart it daily though, it is very intermittent. And the NPVR service is definitely the cause since stopping it and restarting it is the only thing that lets the system stay asleep once it happens. The service may not be logging what it's doing, but it's definitely doing something.
I agree restarting the service daily shouldn't be required. but for those suffering the issue, I can see why they would resort to that. I just do it manually whenever I walk in and see it's not sleeping when it should be.

Thanks Graham,
It's been a almost a week now and the pc appears to be behaving itself, for reasons best known to itself. It wakes from sleep, does the recording/s and then goes back to sleep. It even wakes at 1710 for the epg update and sleeps again after about 20 minutes. So everything is working, for now. Next up is to install Kodi as a front end. Phil |
