Hi again eveveryone I was hoping you could all help me out with a few little issues

1) Recording naming convention Eg S01E01 not working files just saved as dates I do have the setting enabled

2) how does the keep recordings setting work if I have set it too keep 5 recordings what happenes does it cancel newer recordings once the 5 limit is reached, or does it record newer eppisodes and delete older ones

3) if all my tuners were in use recording and someone selected to watch live tv on a different device what would happen would it give them an error or would it cancel a recording to allow them to watch live

You need an EPG source that has series and episode information.

Quote:2) how does the keep recordings setting work if I have set it too keep 5 recordings what happenes does it cancel newer recordings once the 5 limit is reached, or does it record newer eppisodes and delete older ones

It will keep newest by air date and delete older shows

Quote:3) if all my tuners were in use recording and someone selected to watch live tv on a different device what would happen would it give them an error or would it cancel a recording to allow them to watch live

They would see a message. Recordings always have priority over live tv and will kick out live tv viewers.

For this feature to work, NextPVR has to have season and episode information from the guide source. What guide source are you using? Schedules Direct is the strongly recommended best source.

It will record the newer episode then deleted the oldest one (based upon recording date not original air date).

Yeah, you're almost certainly not getting the season/episode numbers from your DVB EPG, so wont get the S01E01 naming.

Thanks again sub i just thought it would have this information as when looking through the EPG on next PVR some tv shows do state what season and eppisode they are

As you can see the information is there for CSI Miami it's S05E23

Freeview and Freesat dont transmit series and Episode data although it is sometimes included in the EPG programme description. Instead they transmit a unique "Series ID" to identify programmes in the same series and unique "Programme ID" to avoid duplicate recordings. These are used by Freesat and Freeview PVRs but NextPVR does not extract this data. However other software such a s EPG Collector which creates a XML EPG file which can be imported into NextPVR can extract the data. NextPVR cannot use the "Series ID" to detect programmes in the same series but the unique Programme ID can be used to populate the EPG database "unique_id" field to avoid duplicate recordings.

That's just some random text within the show description. NextPVR doesn't know its there, so isn't aware of the season episode numbers. Some other EPG sources, like Schedules Direct, explicitly provide the season/episode numbers.

Just to be clear though, so others don't think this info can be used to get the season episode numbers, these are nothing to do with the season/episode number are just unique strings. These are crid, content resource identifiers, which are just a unique string of characters (like "10489511", or "CY10233").

NextPVR does use programme ID crid from either XMLTV or DVB, to ensure the same show isn't rerecorded if there is multiple airings of the same episode.
