Hi Martin,

I have just set up X-Newa (2.5.2) on a new Libreelec box (8.2.0) and I'm confused about a few things, despite reading a lot of different posts. I wonder if you can clarify a few things?

1) Live TV will only work in Timeshift mode. Is this normal behaviour for a Libreelec or Linux client?
With the default streaming mode of native, attempting to watch live TV just results in the 'please wait' animation for about three seconds. Native does work on a Windows 10 client I have though.

2) There are quite a few streaming modes, ie Native, VLC, Direct etc... please could you explain why someone might choose each one and whether any of them have any special requirements or additional config to be done?
Are some of these experimental or otherwise to be avoided?

3) What is the effect of changing the server API?

4) Path Substitutions - I gathered that having a path substitution in place for my server's recordings folder would help playaback of recordings to work better, and adding one seems to have made resume points work.
Are there other scenarios where we need path substitutions? I have put one in place for my server's temp folder, but I'm not sure if I need that or not?

Definitely not.

Native - recommended
HDHR - plays live TV directly from HDHR device if found
Timeshift - records show and plays it erasing at stop allows navigation
PVR - uses sub's PVR client API for streaming, including the buggy timeshift not recommended because PVR API has to be be enabled with xnewa
Transcode - uses transcoding mainly for internet use
VLC - use VLC for transcoding and as web server
Direct - experimental - Create your own

Quote:3) What is the effect of changing the server API?

JSON is strongly recommend. SOAP is obsolete I am keeping it in until I remove SOAP code. XML is sub's XML interface. Not 100% of JSON but probably ok for web client.

Comskip and in-progress recordings are the most useful. For Timeshift setting it would be needed.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have set the streaming type back to native and collected a kodi debug log and NPVR web.log, uploaded here:

Any idea what's going wrong?

Yes, channel 1 works in NPVR and I can play it live in X-Newa if I set the streaming mode to timeshift.

If you re-download the logs.zip, I've now added the other NPVR logs.

I actually wanted to see the logs for channel 1 playing in NextPVR too for reference. Kodi is requesting the file but it doesn't seem to like how slow your tuning is. I did notice that you have set a reduced curl timeout in your advanced settings, perhaps up it to the default 10.

I don't recall adding any of those network settings in advandecdsettings.xml, but I did copy userdata from an older Openelec box, so that is presumably where they came from. I changed the setting to 10 and it doesn't seem to have hepled.

I have updated the log files again to include channel 1 playing in NPVR.

I've deleted all the network settings from advancedsettings, and live TV is now working in native mode. Thanks for pointing that out.

So even in NextPVR it takes a long time (over 4 seconds) and it is really funky at the beginning. Can you upload the new Kodi log I want to see if it is still timing out. Ignore that I see your follow up.

Getting slightly off the topic of X-Newa now, but I was under the impression that everyone's DVB-T2 channels took that long to start playing?

Can you elaborate on "funky"?
