Video/Voice over IP

there has been discussion about a VoIP plugin, but that would probably take awhile to implement, so i was wondering if anyone knows of a program that would work on a htpc for this, something that can be used with a remote, and fullscreen video chat. yahoo/msn/(even icq now i think) do the video/voice chat but you cant use those programs with a remote, they're computer programs, designed for a mouse.

also anyone know of a answering machine program which is good?

Not what you are looking for but in reference to the voip plugin. I know there is a msn and net meeting sdk.

Reven, if you can find an older version of Girder, you should be able to make MSN/ICQ/Yahoo etc work with a remote. The older versions were open source/freeware, now it's shareware.

Not that it matters and I certainly have not looked into it.. What VoIP apps are you looking for? Skype? FreeWorldDialup (FWD), I've used FWD and seems to work pretty good, don't know if you can do remote control changes in it or link something from a plug-in.. but you never know...

im not to worried which program, just want one that does video and voice and has a nice interface for a tv ie dont really need mouse. i did find the last freeware version of girder online, but havent yet played around with it.

errr that was a long time ago, i downloaded it but i have no idea where from (keep googling i found it that way, you just got to find out which is the latest freeversion and then suit for that specific version).

I have thought about this as well. I also found this http://chat-cord.com, most houses in the states are wired for 2 phone lines, I thought about buying one of these and connecting it to line 2 of my house to become my VOIP line.

Then I thought about writing a plugin for GBPVR that would maybe pull up an address book I can click call (anyone online). The video would be a little different.
