Hello. I feel like I have gotten close to meeting my overall goal above.
The situation is: I want to be able to watch a recording in progress (most likely a sporting event) on my Apple TV while it is recording and with the ability to skip commercials.

With the help of several articles in this forum, I feel like I have gotten close but not exactly there.

I have COMSKIP running in parallel with my recordings, and this seems to work
I can see the commercial markers on my Windows PC when I play this recording, so this is also a good sign
I saw a post about KODI and COMSKIP where I set the value of edl_skip_field=3 in my ComSkip.ini file

So I have content with an EDL file, I just can't put it all together on ATV.

There is no NextPVA app on Apple TV, so that is out
I have tried to use MrMC, and I can play the file during a Record but I can't seem to navigate very well in the file itself. Definitely can't move by chapter at this point as far as I can tell.
I have NextPVA on iPhone/iPad and I have successfully casted a video onto ATV. However, automatic commercial skipping doesn't seem to work and it's unclear to me if I even have the ability to move by chapter from the iPad NextPVA app.
I saw some posts that made my head explode related to setting some KODI advanced parameters in this situation, but I can't tell whether this applies to me or not.

So, hoping that someone can let me know if there is any combination of items/apps/configurations that can meet the goal above.

Thanks in Advance,

Just to be clear, the NextPVR iOS application only attempts to show the comskip markers - it doesn't automatically skip them.

Sorry, can help you with the rest - I don't use Kodi/MrMC or Comskip.

Thanks, it's helpful to know that NextPVR IOS does not support this. I will not go down this path anymore.
My next question, then, is: What controls do I have on IOS to move through the commercials. It looks like a swipe does a ff/rw ... but is there any chapter support?

Any help is appreciated.

thanks

The primary way of skipping in the iOS app is tapping the screen, then dragging the time line, then releasing to restart playback.

At this stage, the iOS app only shows the comskip markers as a visual hint for any users using the time line. It doesn't attempt to do anything further with comskip. ie, there is no such thing as chapters etc. No one has ever asked about improving comskip functionality in there, so I didn't bother taking that aspect any further.

I can only speak for myself, but this would have huge benefits. Dragging the timeline is extremely difficult because it's too small on an iPhone to be precise. Stakes are high as every change could potentially cause a transcode wait.
Pretty much any alternatives would be helpful:

Chapter buttons to go forward and backward
A button or gesture to go 15-30 seconds that could be pressed through the commercials
A Skip button that would move to the next chapter
AutoSkip (although I personally don't trust comskip in all cases)
An Apple TV App with any of these features so that I could use the remote :-)

This would really help with watching TV while it is recording!
