The removal today of C4 HD from the UK Freesat EPG dos not seem to be a problem as it is still being broadcast on the same mux. I just checked and I am using the Freeview HD EPG XML data but could just as easily set NextPVR to use the EPG data from the SD version of the channel.

Lets hope they don't decide to put it behind the sky paywall like their other HD offerings - hopefully it's just a Mexican Standoff over Freesat's price hike.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

It does seem to be about the extra cost of the HD EPG!

On TV forums some people are reacting as if it was a national disaster and complaining to their MP as they refuse to watch any SD broadcasts!! My normal viewing distance on my lounge and bedroom TVs is 10ft. On my 40 inch lounge TV I can tell the difference between SD and HD but cannot see any problems with the SD picture unless I move a bit closer. On my bedroom 32 inch TV it is difficult to tell the difference between SD & HD!

The main (1-5) SD channels are just about acceptable (even on a 50" screen), but the jump in quality to HD is still very significant and if we lose C4HD permanently it'll be a real shame. As for everything else, it's simply bloody awful the quality (or lack of) that's broadcast and yet still deemed to be watchable. Add on all the flaming on-screen logos plastered all over the screen and you have the perfect storm of shitness in my opinion Smile

"Should have gone to Specsavers" Big Grin

For me I'm lucky in having both Freeview and Freesat so I've combined the Channel 4 HD feeds into a single group but changed the EPG to come from the DVB-T Freeview feed rather than Freesat.

Personally, I do think the HD channels look better than SD (even though some of their content is up-scaled)

As C4HD is still broadcasting but with no EPG is there any way to spoof NextPVR to use the SD EPG for the HD source?

The options include ... 1) if you can receive DVBT signals, using software to grab the DVBT broadcast EPG into an xmltv file (options include DVBguide and EPGcollector) and setting the guide source for that one channel to xmltv and mapping the broadcast channel to the appropriate channel from the xmltv file ... 2) Schedules Direct but you might not want to pay their subscription for just one channel 3) Webgrab Plus to scrape EPG data from a website into an xmltv file

There does not seem to be a simple solution if you are using DVB EPG but if you use XMLTV EPG you can map "Channel 4 HD" to use the SD version "Channel 4" data. However if you are not already using XMLTV that would mean using something like EPG Collector to collect just Channel 4 data in a XML file. Another solution may be an SQL script to copy the "Channel 4" data to "Channel 4 HD" after the overnight EPG update!

Many thanks for the suggestions. Webgrab would probably be the best option but setting it up for one channel that we rarely watch would probably not be worth the time. I had Schedules Direct for a year but found it offered little over the Freesat EPG considering we can watch on demand services if we need to time shift.

Is there a simple method of configuring the C4 HD Freesat EPG to point at the C4 HD Freeview EPG entries in the NPVR EPG datafile..

I have both a Freeview and a Freesat card configured in NPVR.

Thanks for your assistance
