Actually, it was happening with 4.1.0, since 4.0.4 and most likely the TSReader, is there a recommended CodeC (up to date) listing that should be used with this new TSReader to remove the issue, as the video will lag for about 5 seconds and then jump to where it should be. Before the jump it progressively gets slower until it almost stops. Would returning to an earlier TSReader be possible or not, the 3.9.7 one I believe was the one I was using had that bug at the start but after a commercial skip, there was no lag (of a considerable amount).

With all the varied CodeCs out on the 'net, would be a valuable resource to download a specific CodeC batch from here that will ensure consistent performance across all devices. This PC and the PVR PC have totally different CodeC lists for use on NextPVR and I'm not even sure if the ones on this PC would benefit the PVR PC.

I haven't seen that behaviour myself, but there is lots of factors that can come into, so certainly possible that some users will see slightly different behaviour. These days I'm typically just using the Microsoft and LAV decoders.

Ticking the 'use legacy reader and Microsoft demux' uses the old playback components.

Well, before 4.1.0, using the 3.9.7 TSReader, I had no issues, the new one, very laggy video only, audio is fine. I'm using the Microsoft for Video and LAV for Audio on that machine, so no clue who's causing it. I'll try that checkbox and report back, though still, a good up to date listing of what CodeCs should work the best may be helpful to solve these quirks.

When you click the link at the bottom of the Settings->Decoders screen, it takes you to my current list of decoder recommendations at http://www.nextpvr.com/decoders.html

Basically... the Microsoft and LAV decoders to be the best. Otherwise, I've also found the ArcSoft H.264 decoder, and the Hauppauge decoders to work well. Others decoder may also work well, but I haven't really tested some of the more obscure ones. Mileage may vary for other users though, depending on stuff your broadcaster is doing with their encoding, or possibly other machine-specific things like your audio renderer etc (which effects timing).

If you've got a recording consistently shows these lag problems, supply it, and I'll check it here.

I also see this behavior, however it does not bother me. (Just thought I would chime in if it helps). I only ever watch recordings - I don't use live tv. When I do a few skip forward 1 min presses to get past commercials, normally the video will be well in front of audio (maybe a couple of seconds) then the video will slow until they sync then it will be normal. As I said, this doesn't bother me, but happy to help sort if need be. My decodes attached

It happens here too, for the last few months. What's odd is that it doesn't happen every time there's a jump. Sometimes the video and audio start back up perfectly in sync, while other times it may take as long as 5 seconds for the video to lag itself back to be in sync with the audio. This is using LAV video and audio. I just try NOT to look too closely at the screen for a few seconds so that it doesn't look like I'm watching something dubbed from a different language. Wink

I actually have Hauppauge cards in that machine, but I only installed the drivers, nothing else. Updated them to the latest to see if that would have helped with the other issue on that one channel, didn't. But yes, like everyone else is saying, it's a hit/miss with it working properly. I actually have the TV full screen, so for me to go into the settings, I have to: exit, edit the ini, change fullscreen to false, save, keep it open, open NPVR then undo the ini edit and exit that (save), then I can go to the settings, then change what I need, then exit, then re-open NPVR. Yes, a lot of work, but the settings are absent from any internal menu and on that TV are nasty tiny, plus I don't click on any links on that PC because it's got a whitelist for sites, wasn't sure where that link went. I've got the settings pretty much like that screenshot does (my audio is all at LAV), the HEVC is on LAV too. The rest is the same, but I am trying the "Use legacy NPVR TS Reader and Microsoft Demultiplexer" though the first commercial it lagged, but the rest didn't, so I'll try it for a few days to see if the milage varies with that setting on.

I have been having a similar problem. I am using the LAV audio and video decoders with a Hauppauge Win Dual USB. I just downloaded and installed the most recent drivers (usbdrv263_23081.exe) from Happauge. It appears that the updated driver solved the problem for me. The video lag has disappeared.

After further review I find that I am still having a problem with video/audio sync when skipping ahead on comskipped video. It does not happen on video that has not been processed with comskip.

That sounds very complicated. Why don't you just right click on the NextPVR background and click "settings"? (Works in full screen)
