I just installed NextPVR on Windows 10, I got through the device selection and channel scan, but when selecting some menus in the left-hand pane of the Settings window, NextPVR windows show "Not Responding" and never come out of that mode. CPU level is normal, so the program is not doing anything. Task manager doesn't terminate the program either (how annoying). I have to sign out of my Windows account and log back in. The two menu options that I've encountered this bug with are Decoders and DVD.

I have had problems with this but it wasn't NextPVR it was in the LAV drivers with a multimonitor setup. Disconnecting one monitor or uninstalling LAV worked for me. I haven't had that problem for while though.

For the avoidance of doubt … LAV are decoders and not drivers. In any event, please close and restart NextPVR (to restart the logs) and then recreate the problem and then post the logs … Go to NextPVR Settings --> About and click the button to zip the logs and attach the logs to a post telling us the time that NextPVR is "Not Responding" so that we know where to look in the logs. Thanks.

CPU level is normal, so the program is not doing anything.Neither the main NextPVR window, nor the settings window can be closed or forcibly terminated through Windows Task Manager: I have to sign out of my Windows account and log back in, or restart the computer to terminate NVPR in that state. The two menu options that I've encountered this bug with are Decoders and DVD, but I only need Decoders to finish setting up NextPVR.

The Decoders "tab" has 3 edit boxes showing "EVR", "Default (Recommended), and "Default (Recommended)", but no other text or labels.

Aaaaaargh … NextPVR cycles its logs … A new log is started each time that NextPVR is started … the previous log is renamed to .1 and the previous .1 is renamed to .2 … the .1 version of the log is missing from your log folder, the log probably got lost during the logon/off.

Can you recreate the problem but copy the npvr.log file immediately after the "Not Responding" occurs and before you force NextPVR to close … the logs are at c:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs. Thanks.

The Decoders tab should look like this:

If you don't see all of this, sounds like there is an install problem. Need the logs as Graham says.

I probably deleted it. I have reinstalled from a newly-downloaded .exe, cycled through the problem, created and uploaded new logs (apparently it's necessary to create a new post each time a log is uploaded?). NPVR.log does not change after the NPRV starts and I go to Settings>Decoders. Uh oh... it's still the NPVR.log from a couple of hours ago! I'll uninstall, forcibly remove NPVR folders, reinstall, retry the scenario.

Now *that* looks like real dialog! Apparently the program gets stuck while doing whatever it does during loading that dialog because it never finishes doing so. I tried the software from a newly created Windows account, but the same thing happens.
