Is this safe to put all my info in the forum - I left the specific tuners out of this post?

How will I be notified? You do not have my email address!

The only thing that I know for sure s that the Vista pc needed Media Center to handle everything with the tuner, and worked fine!

It is an AverMedia tuner card using the ATSC port with an antenna that all my TVs see all the channels that I need. Under devices it sees AverMedia DBA Tuner/Demod (ASTC, QAM and IPTV). I scan under the ATSC, but see no channels. I also scanned the other 2 installed tuners, adjusting all codecs parameters (LAV and Microsoft DTV-DVD video and audio decoders - the latter automatically selected for H.264 video and MPEG-1 audio.

The tuner card was in a Vista PC originally, and is now in a Windows 8.1 pc that automatically installed the latest driver. LAV filters were installed with MediaPortal 2 which also did not scan any channels; I attempted all settings that I could adjust with MediaPortal 2. WinTV 7 is also installed on this pc via a Hauppauge tuner that I am not using on this pc now. Please assist me with scanning the channels that all my TVs are receiving. All TVs were off during the Next PVR scan.

I know that my Vista pc is a Vista Media Center pc. My Windows 8 pc does not have Media Center installed. If you want, I can attach a zipped NextPVR scan file (zip with what program?) and the tuner card advertisement (.html file). Please let me know what you need!

I'm not sure what you're worried about - nobody posts any personal information. You're just some random username posting a description of some problem you've had. That doesn't give us any personal information.

Just like any other forum - you wouldn't publicly post your email address. Even if we knew your email address, no one would email you directly about your problem. They would just post a reply here, so other users with the same problem in the future have the benefit of being able to read the reply.

So...just check back later today to see if you got a reply. Most things would get a reply in the first couple of hours. If you haven't got a reply in day or so, you're probably not going to get one.

(If you're lucky the forum might email you to notify you that that you got a reply. That doesn't always happen though, so don't wait for the email to arrive)

Do a scan, then go to the Settings->About screen, and click the 'zip my logs and show me where the zip file is' button.

Decoder settings make no difference when scanning. They're only used later when you're watching Live TV or a recording.

If MediaPortal also did not find channels, then there is likely something like you don't have a decent signal etc, or the device has failed to something. If your device is non-functional, or doesn't have a signal, then NextPVR isn't going to find any channels either. Might also need to see if AverMedia has updated drivers - you might be using an old drivers that doesn't work well with Win8.

There is no errors in your log, and it goes through the motions, but it looks like the device never locks onto a signal, so never delivers any data to NextPVR.

Try swapping out cables and any splitters. If that doesn't help, try looking for updated drivers for you device, in case the drivers aren't working well with Win8.

Hello:

Trying again, apparently I just responded and it was lost!

Again, my driver for this AverMedia tuner card are up to date and all cables are good/operational.

I have a TV In port (analog) on my AverMedia card; I want to hook up my Channel Master digital to analog converter/tuner to this port to scan for analog channels. The original Vista Media Center instructions say the TV In port is for a set top box.

Please provide the specific instructions to scan with this tuner; the only devices now loaded are ATSC, QAM and IPTV. The Channel Master was not hooked up the the card during this installation.

If necessary, please provide specific instructions for 1) complete removal of my original installation and 2) re-installation to scan with this analog device which my card is designed to handle. I even have analog TVs to hook to this port.

Thank you very much!

For analog support you need to install the Hauppauge softpvr software. There are instructions if you search the forum however you wrote you installed wintv so that should be sufficient.

There is a Hauppauge TV tuner installed with WinTV Version 7 on my Windows 8 pc; do I need to point NextPVR at the tuner software? I am now using my Hauppauge tuner on my Windows 7 pc!

I apologise for being a bit dim ... I can't quite understand what it is that you want to do.

Am I right that the Avermedia tuner card that you have is able to receive digital ATSC broadcasts via a coax cable from an antenna? Do you have an antenna cable plugged into the card?

The hardware in TV tuner devices for computers is often less sensitive than in a real TV. The scan process for a tuner in a computer requires a good signal. You might find that you are able to scan for digital channels if you temporarily remove splitters and extension coax cables and try the scan again.

What is it that you want to do with the "Channel Master digital to analog converter/tuner"? Am I right that this device is designed to receive digital ATSC broadcasts from an antenna and convert the signal to an analog signal that can be used with an older TV?

It is my understanding that analog NTSC TV to an antenna is not being broadcast in the US. The use of a digital-to-analog converter might not be necessary if your Avermedia card is able to receive digital broadcasts.

No. Does WinTV work ok with your Hauppauge card?
