No audio when starting live TV since installing audio patch, takes 4-5 tries

A longstanding issue with switching between AC3 and AAC audio was fixed with this patch:

However, this patch has introduced another bug. When starting live TV, there is no audio for either HDPVR channels (w/ AC3) or IPTV channels (w/ AAC). After stopping playback and starting live TV again 4-5 times, it starts working. I can't find any pattern to it, feels like a race condition of sorts. Logs attached.

Another data point: I've noticed that in the attempts to watch live TV when audio doesn't work, the video stutters for a second or so before it ramps up to its full frame-rate. When the audio is working, the video fires up right away at the right frame-rate from the get-go.
