Live OTA shows clear, recordings pixelated

Working with Windows 10 computer, HDHomerun connect duo, NextPvr (into Kodi). I set up an antenna in my attic and channels that previous indoor antenna pixelated where now coming in clear.

I recorded a couple of shows and there is pixelation in the recordings. Right now the only tuner in my house is the HDhomerun connect duo and am not using any thing else. Wanted to see if I am missing anything obvious.

Can you post logs showing both activities happening? Let me know what time the recording occurred, and what time you watched live tv, so I know where exactly I'm watching in the logs.

Sub, Thank you for your response. I was recording (pbs) last night (Saturday)between 8pm-9:30pm, I switched to the live tv of this show a few times during the show and there was not any noted pixelation.

(I did download the hd homerun gui tech, as I wondered about the strength of the signal yet, it was hovering today (11:45am, around 73%).

You'd need to zip and attach all the logs.

Live TV is just a recording though, which it automatically starts playing, so you shouldn't see any difference. However it does start looking for an available device from the other end of the list, so if you've got a situation where one tuners is getting good reception and the other isn't, you can see issues like you describe.

I'm guessing it is signal related. You're definitely getting a few weak numbers in there. The following will definitely be pixelated.

ie, I don't think it's anything to do with live tv vs recording - it's more likely either picking channels with bad reception, or your splitter is giving slightly weaker signal to the tuner that is often getting used for live tv.

Thanks sub. I felt like that may be it but wanted to ask if there was something nextpvr/kodi/software related. I do have access to two public tv stations here, and now that I can look at strengths it was 73% vs. 87%, no contest. Thank you for checking my log.
