I don't have a Chromecast, so I didn't have immediate plans for it. I'd like to add it some time in the future though.

Little bit of background on how my TV usage has changed: 12 years ago when I registered on the forums, it was all about creating personal on-demand tv for me. Multiple tuner cards, hdds and of course gbpvr. Then as Iplayer and on demand came of age I migrated to kodi with npvr backend so I could integrate on demand and terrestrial TV. Now I hardly watch any 'linear tv', all the major UK stations have catchup services that I just chromecast, and I've got netflix for movies and binge TV, so it's all done from my phone now. I was really excited to see npvr android app, as for me this is the way it's going, so would really love to integrate this with my current watching habits (chromecast) and keep the tuner cards in use. I know people use npvr in a multitude of different setups, but I hope I'm not unique.

The Chromecast will require a transcoding server so not the best choice of client, it actually needs to two clients too one to cast from. Could you not just cast video from the web modern ui using Chrome?

Hi Martin,

My RPi2 went TU last light, 'somebody' Blush plugged in the wrong adapter, maybe the polyfuse will reset... maybe not... anyway probably time to think about a RPi4 but in the meantime I think I can just open the v5 WebUi using http://localhost:8866/ and cast to my Chromecast right? However if I want to play (cast) Videos (not Recordings), how would I do that please as there is no menu for Videos?

I suggest using NextPVR isn't your best solution for casting from you PC? Perhaps you have a laptop that you can install Kodi on in the meantime?
