You can download 4.2.3.181112 from https://nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup_4_2_3_181112.exe

This is a fairly minor release, rolling the patches posted for 4.2.2 into the main release. See next post for some comments on the future versions of NextPVR.

Please post any support issues in the support forum. Support questions posted in this thread will be deleted.

Changes:
Quote:- much faster Search screen when using a client install
- fixed problem where sometimes the app would claim no audio decoder was available when switching to channel on different source.
- fixed issue with entering manual recording start/end times on the popup window
- fixed issue with typing channel number on manual recording popup
- fixed issue with streaming recordings with name that ended in "..." (to web/android/ios)
- fixed issue with click controls in video playback with VMR9 renderer
- fixed issue with 'epg mode' timeshifting with non-digital devices
- fixed a bug where some SAT>IP devices would fail to tune
- fixed issue where channel groups could be left behind after deleting a device
- OnDemand will now cope with .mp4/.mkv urls that don't have channel group information
- fixed issue with manual recordings set to start on a future date
- fixed issue with recurring recordings with the same show name starting at the same time on different channels
- fixed an issue with importing channels from a specific IPTV provider
- only showing 'Play' button in recordings screen when file is present on disk
- fixed issue with HDPVR/Analog live tv streaming continuing to receive data after a recording starts on a different channel
- fixed issue with API that reports slip status to client applications

A few comments on NextPVR v5.0 and above...

I just wanted to give you all a minor heads up on changes that are coming in the next few months. I've been beavering away on the next major release of NextPVR, which is a large new development. This version of NextPVR will be the first to be cross platform capable, with the backend server able to installed on a variety of platforms. Quite a bit of effort has gone into making it compatible with existing clients, like Kodi, XNEWA, Android/iOS apps etc.

While this new release reuses a lot of code from previous releases (public api, recording service, much of the UI etc), most of the platform specific stuff and plumbing has been rewritten. With these large changes, 5.x will be in beta for a while - initially private beta, and then a public beta. Because of this, for a period of time I'll also be maintaining the 4.x code base, and potentially doing some more releases on that version, rather than forcing the use of 5.x from the get go.

The program is excellent, and I use it daily.

The only thing I find troublesome and I hope you incorporate in a future release is to opt out of creating duplicate channel numbers for different channels.
I hope you enable the option to only scan new devices to empty channel numbers.

Many thanks for your efforts.

I don't understand what you mean, but if you want to post more concrete details in the support forum, I'll take a look.

I'd like to be included in the beta if at all possible. I use NPVR mainly in server client mode as I use one PC in the house to talk to my HDHomeRun and do all the recording, guide, and live TV stuff. I've noticed on certain systems there seems to be a sizable lag in performance so I actually moved it off my server and directly onto the HTPC. Seems like it behaves there better overall as my PC is quite a bit smoother using the HTPC as the server.

Anyway, if the back end client / server portion is being reworked I'd like to see if there are some performance gains or other advantages. Let me know if I can assist with the beta for 5.0!

I have an extra PC I can text on as I've moved to IPTV only now since I dropped my over priced cable company.
Also PM me if you need a IPTV info to test in v5.

Thanks

......with the backend server able to installed on a variety of platforms.

Does this mean that I will now be able to install on a Linux server?
