What is the best HDMI recorder to use with NextPVR to record off a comcast STB? (I know I need an HDMI splitter that strips HDCP).
Or are they all kluges that work half the time and constantly need to be reset?
SiliconDust Premium TV is in a death spiral and I have to decide between comcast or a streaming service.

Last time I tried, their response was 'Cable Whut?'. How much extra a month do they charge for cable cards?

Officially sub only supports Hauppauge devices, some of them do 5.1 pass through too. There is another class of devices that capture HDMI as IPTV encoders that you might consider but sub would need to add blaster support for IPTV.

Cablecard is probably a better option, if you don't need premium channels.

I haven't given up on Silcon Dust's Premium TV and will still subscribe when it comes to Canada. Reading their forum and all they are doing to get it working properly should make anyone rethink pirate IPTV especially if reliability and consistency is the key to the setup. Reading reviews of most IPTV resellers on Reddit certainlyservice appears worse and the big providers technical details are never revealed. I read about people subscribing to 1 or 2 providers and a VPN, paying with Bitcoin and still juggling services to watch what they want.

I'm not a Silicon Premium TV user but yesterday and still into today, many are pissed about the lost of 8 channels with no word from SD of when to expect those channels. It's' still to flaky for me to spend money on something still basically in beta.

The only Comcast equipment in my house is a cable card, for which I receive a $2.50 credit off my bill each month.
As stated previously, it is rock-solid.

I will definitely explore that option. I would not have expected them to be so reasonable.
You have it hooked up to a pc running nextpvr then?

If you read earlier postings on their forums, you'll find that their feed supplier is likely abusing their contract by subletting feeds to others. I regretfully expect that they will shut premium tv down completely very soon. I absolutely love the service, warts and all and want them to succeed but...

What box do you use with the cable card? Ceton, Happauge, SiliconDust or ?
Sub, do you have a recommendation for which hardware works best with NPVR?

Same here. I returned my STB that was sitting on a shelf, unused, after a Comcast rep explained that the $10/month "HD Technology Fee" was really rental on the STB. Took it back to them that day (and filed away the receipt, since Comcast is known for demanding their equipment of payment when you move or cancel service).

My cable card lives in my HD HomeRun Prime.
