Hi,

An annoying blinking light on the PC when it sleeps (this is the stated behaviour of my new MB) can be solved by setting ErP to on in the BIOS (or by the less desirable yank-the-Motherboard-LED connector-altogether-method), but I am not sure if this will mean NPVR does not wake to record any more; what is the experience and or consenus here?

"ErP Support determines whether to let the system consume less than 1W of power in S5 (shutdown) state. When the setting is enabled, the following four functions will become unavailable: PME Event Wake Up, Power On By Mouse, Power On By Keyboard, and Wake On LAN."

Cheers

k.

Tonight’s my night. Technology 2019 stylo.

A simple solution will not give you a sense of satisfaction.

You know full well that you have to work at it for weeks if you want to feel like you have done a proper job.

You could start by ordering all the different sizes and types here ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Light-Dims/b/re...Light+Dims

Waiting for the delivery and then testing all the variations will give you a warm glow ... Big Grin

Or you could use electrical tape ... it works for me.

You know me too well; my wife and kids can’t see the point :-). Actually I’m more miffed about the motherboard manufacturers (and indeed the manufacturers of so many electrical appliances) obsession with lights and especially nowadays with hideous blinking ones (in “sleep” mode of all things!). Why would ASUS make a router with “stealth mode” but not put the same functionality on a PC? Don’t get me started on the RGB lights I had to turn off either.... motherboard could be done in BIOS but my CPU cooler (KRAKEN) could only be done by installing some overblown monitoring software. This will be the last time I ask my nephew for PC recommendations (my old rig was a 2007 vintage and suffered none of these malaise’s) ;-). Actually on a serious note I bought the components I did because the quality was good; I just failed to research about lights.

Grumble grumble... I put some cardboard on it, tape gets disgustingly sticky in the heat after several years in place.
