Source of Genre/Category in Nextpvr addon in Kodi

I always thought Nextpvr in Kodi was getting the Genre/Category from my XMLTV file. Looking at 3rd Rock from the Sun (listed as a Sitcom in my xmltv file) it is listed in the epg as Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror. Similarly Bewitched an old 60's sitcom is also listed as Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror. Some sitcoms are listed as Comedies although the xmltv file has a category of Sitcom. Just curious the source of what is being shown in the epg. Thanks.

They are mapped via the xbmc-genre-translation.xml file and Sitcom should be 16 4 which share the same type 16 as the other group you mention. Not sure Kodi colours by subtype.

Thanks for the info. Found the file. But I'm still not sure how the genre appears in my epg. For instance here's a snipett of my xmltv file for the show Seinfeld

The category line says its a Sitcom but shows up in my epg as a Comedy. How does Kodi do this? Is it getting the info from my xmltv file or someplace else? A bit confused.

Check the map file for Sitcom It is 16 4 and mapedp to the dvb standard in en 300 468 section 6.2.9 that becomes Comedy. Bewitched and Third Rock likely have fantasy as their first priority genre so would map to 16 3
