Recordings 1 minute off

Just wondering if anybody else has this issue. All recordings start about 1 minute too soon, as well as end 1 minute too soon. I've been using the offset when setting up recordings and that helps, but it gets old after a while. I don't think this in an next pvr issue but rather a windows issue, as it also happens on a different machine running sagetv. Both win7 64 bit. Both up to date. The time doesn't drift, it's just always 1 minute off. I have tried different internet time servers. Has anybody seen this before?

Thanks,

Bobby

I don't remember any other reports of this. It does sound like your PC time is out.

If you want to post the logs, and the name/time of a recording that started early, I can check the logs to confirm if NextPVR has started recording at the time you told it to (based on your PC's time)

Are you talking about recordings from an OTA tuner, or from IPTV streams? IPTV streams are usually delayed by a minute or more compared to live OTA TV, simply due to the Internet architecture through which they must pass. This will cause the effect of recordings seeming to start and end early, because the streams are not in sync with your EPG.

This is why we ask for logs so we don't have to guess.

I realize this is an old thread, but I have this exact problem. It occurs on IPTV streams. Is there a way to adjust just the IPTV streams by 1 min?

Padding is the normal method of delaying with guide data that doesn't match the actual times.

Martin

Thank you Martin for the quick reply.  I have a mixture of OTA and IPTV, the only issue is for the IPTV streams. Looking at the settings in V5, I see in "settings->General" a place for pre and post padding, however, I cant seem to get the values to apply to just some of the channels.

I see where I can select a "Channel Group" at the top, so I made groups and tried switching between them and the Pre and Post padding always stayed where I last set it. So it appears to affect all channels. Looking in the config.xml file there is, at present, only one set of pre and post padding in the recording area.

When setting up a new recording I cannot tell it to start 1 min late (with a -1) because it is a drop-down list containing only positive numbers.

So would the appropriate method be to set the pre and post padding in the General settings (-1, +1) section then for OTA broadcasts override with 1 min pre and just live with the extra post padding?

Thanks for all your help!

The guide isn't wrong your IPTV is buffering. You should be able to enter negative padding in the NextPVR UI or possibly setting a negative value as the default will do the same thing.
