On Linux I can run the following, and it'll continue to run in the background, even if I close the terminal. You can probably do something similar on the mac.

./NextPVRServer & disown

In future I'll look at providing scripts to have it auto start in the background with the machine etc. (still very early days for NextPVR v5)

OK, after little bit of research, the terminal command is:

Nohup ./NextPVRServer &

Great.

That works on Linux too.

Forgive me for bumping an old thread. If I use this command to launch the app in the background, will I lose the ability to monitor the server in real time? Or can I use Console.app to track a log file of some sort?

Logs are available from the web server. They don't show everything that the console shows but most of the relevant messages will be logged too.

Yea, I found the Log download location which is really nice.  I'm a "watch a pot boil" kind of guy, especially when it comes to testing, so I was hoping to retain as much of the console output as possible. No matter, I can continue to run the app manually. I haven't decided which platform I intend to leverage long term anyway.

You can still redirect nohup stdout to a file if you really want.
