I have tried 3 times now. I downloaded the .zip (by clicking the link in the windows post), unzipped to c:\NPVR5, exit NPVR 4

there is no config.xml to change the port
when I click on NextPVRServer.exe and permit it I get a "This app can't run on your pc" to find a version for your pc,check with the software publisher.

Windows 10 pro 1809 everything was updated yesterday. NPVR 4 runs.

Are you running 64bit Windows?

You need Kill NPVR Recording Service from running in background first or uninstall NPVR 4.
Here how keep it NPVR 4 in place while you test NPVR 5
Right click on taskbar open task manager go to Startup tab disable Ntray then go to Service tab then right click on NPVR Recording Service open service right click on NPVR Recording Service then go to properties hit stop then disable it from running

I think NPVR 5 is a 64 bit so your running Windows 10 32bit then it not going to work
Then only thing it could be you is not log in with Admin rights try right click on NextPVRServer.exe and run as Administer see that helps any
Also in belong in C:\Program Files\ for 64bit apps or C:\Program Files (x86)\ is 32bit apps under 64bit OS

Since there is no installer for NextPVR it isn't clear but v5 is compiled as an x64 application which is why I asked .

Because of using a firewire tuner with my HDPVR I am stuck with no solution for v5, firewire tuning isn't supported on Win64. It does work well in linux though so I am patiently awaiting more support.

Sorry but firewire fell flat on it face as USB take over
Yup that petty much your only option is with Linux and the best part is can use Hauppauge on board IR Blaster across many device unlike with Windows where you stuck with one IR blaster

There is no way to tune with USB (except maybe with an old Pinnancle device) and no http tuning here on my boxes. But yes I've LIRC setup and tuning my DTA with my HVR 1950 on linux and I did try from the HDPVR too. The issue is many reports on mythtv say the HDPVR IR tuning is not stable (there is even a kernel warning). The firewire card was less then $15 US delivered and I think it is going to work fine.

That funny then what dose the USB-UIRT do then in fact you can make you own USB IR Blaster
But thing is with firewire is your STB also has to have it and very few STB even support it and many of them had it but didn't work
On Sat like DirecTV then can go HTTP Tuning via ethernet is good way to go.

Sorry I meant tune firewire via USB. USB UIRT is ok, but I don't like taping the IR eye to my devices to avoid bleeding. Besides I can control up to 4 STB from my $15 dollar device. (I have the DTA and 2 STB that all use the same IR code)
