Is there any reason why you can't used over writing buffer mode in memory or automatic generate new file at end of that show or movie and auto del the pervious recording in stead it of recording many hundreds of Megabytes to Gigabytes over time a several hour period in both Windows and Linux.

Also pleases address next show info with right show or movie info and player time is set as 24 hour

Dran I it posted in wrong place

The buffer makes more sense when you think about pausing and rewinding live tv. v4 and earlier versions of NextPVR also allowed you to save the entired buffered to the end of the show (Epg Mode) which is great, definitely the biggest thing missing in v5 for me.

That why I give to option but personal I prefer it automatic generate new file at end of that show or movie and auto del the pervious recording in stead of keep it if not mark as recording.

It will be deleted by time and when you exit, there is no advantage to an immediate delete unless you only have a few GB free which is not a good setup for a PVR anyway.

That's why I said it does it by time too, the default is around 20 minutes of buffer but I think there is a bug in linux and it is much shorter.

In case it's not clear - NextPVR is only keeping a limited amount of buffer. Every few minutes it creates a new file, and keeps the last four files, auto deleting older ones when it creates the new one. ie, it's not just endlessly using more and more disk. The default is 20 minutes of buffer available (though I am aware of some inconsistencies to this currently in v5). This buffer duration will be configurable in a future release.

NextPVR does it this way because so that we can give users a nice easy to understand model of "you can rewind up to x minutes".

(and yes, I know the web app doesn't currently let you rewind to take advantage of this, but this will be resolved in the future)

NextPVR v4 had a mode somewhat like this (where it would keep up to the last 4 shows), and NextPVR v5 will probably get this too in the future, but it was definitely not as straight forward as you describe. There is a lot of complications and flaws to this scheme when the user has a guide of mixed length shows. In the US/Canada it's very common to see a guide filled with 30 or 60 minute shows. In a lot of other countries you'll often see much shorter shows, often only a few minutes etc, and when the user is behind live, this is a headache (ie, keeping the last 4 shows at times might represent 20 minutes on disk, and at other times might represent 6 hours on disk)

Yeah, as mentioned, there is some inconsistencies depending on device type and platform. (because I lowered values to help my testing, but forgot to put it back to how it was)

I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Might have been a bug in an earlier beta build that caused this, but not for a while now.

Ah, good point - I've fixed this for the next build.
