I ran across this in config.xml under <HDPVR> looking for something else. What does this do? I ask because I have an HDMI splitter that takes up to 5 seconds to "wake up". I'm wondering if this will delay recording start so it will be awake when it starts?

This setting only affects recordings, not live tv. It basically causes it to through away that number of milliseconds before capturing anything. The primary purpose for this was to make sure it didn't capture the first few seconds that may show the channel changing on a set top box, or resolution changing etc.

Well, sounds like that may help me out! I have a noticeable delay caused by my splitter (of course, I HAVE to have that or no pic). So the param is milliseconds. I'll give it a shot. BTW, no matter what I do, I cannot get AC3 from HDMI. I think Colossus 2 probably just doesn't do it. I even tried disconnecting all my TVs from the splitter, still no go even with only the Colossus connected. Using toslink, AC3 works with no issues. Sigh.

You could try asking Hauppauge. They might be able to tell you what's happening.

I emailed their support DAYS ago...no response. Not nearly as good as you, Sub!
