Do you guys have any info for mounting an external drive?

I'm using fstab

UUID=F0E5-E1234 /media/recordings exfat defaults,auto,umask=000,users,rw,uid=pi,gid=video 0 0

I think I figured out how to change the group to video but the other commands I'm unable to run on the external.

Thanks!

I just use the defaults
UUID=xxxxx /mnt/tv2 ext4 auto,exec,rw,user 0 2

(I like to check my drives, they are really old)

Most newer distros will automount your external drives.

When you create the mount point /media/recordings in your example give it the permissions you want using the steps in the deb install then create a basic fstab entry. I like the noatime parameter too for the limited value it has for media files
