installer replaces channel icons

every time i upgrade gbpvr the installer replaces the channel icons i use with the original ones (which well are old, and are ugly). now this usually isnt a big deal, but sometimes when you just enter the config the installer pops up, and replaces the icons again. i make plugins, that means i often am bug testing a few things (ie often need to open up the config app) and then i have to keep replace the icons (after a while it gets really annoying). i just hope theres some way the installer can see these icons are already there so it doesnt replace those files.

I've gotten a similar problem -- and I know what causes it from experience with MSI installs.

In my case, I have new channel icons (like BRAVO.jpg) and don't want the old one. GB-PVR apparently uses GIF's first, then a jpg -- so I need to delete the GIF file so it uses my JPG file.

When I re-run GB-PVR, the installer starts, and re-installs the original GIF icon, thus never allowing me to replace it. This is a "feature" of the shortcuts used by GB-PVR in the START menu (and a part of Windows Installer's auto-repair feature). If you start the program directly, or from a "normal" shortcut, this won't happen -- and I've replaced the icons with simple shortcuts to prevent this.

I was hoping that perhaps in the future the install kit could be modified to keep the images from being hard-coded .

I second this. TV3 in Sweden does not use NZ TV3 icon ;-)

This "feature" absoltely drives me nuts. I want to replace the net redio station list with stations of my own (and delete a bunch of pre-installed ones), but the @*&(#& installer always puts them back :/

Yep, me to. I cant find anyway to turn it off, so dont expect it expect it to be any different in the next release...

is there anyway you can make the net radio stations and the channel icons options in the installer, ie so you can choose not to install them? or perhaps a different installer (yeah i know its a place you dont want to spend your time, becaues well its annoying.. ).

I've already removed the channel icons from the next installer.

I'd prefer to have the radio stations work without the user having to do any custom install etc, so I'll look to make them an optional component in future. I wont do for the next release though, I cant be bothered.
