My MCE remote is giving odd results.  Mostly seems to double press for every key.  So, if I press skip forwards it skips 2 minutes not one, if I am navigating the list of recordings, the up & down buttons jump two items on the list rather than one.

It's driving me nuts!

Help please!

Try a google search for that.... I have had it in the past but I can't now remember what had to be done to fix it, but I did find a cure quite easily with a quick search, at least back then.

I'd need to know more about your setup to be sure if this answer will help, but I dealt with a similar problem a few months ago. I was using EventGhost on Windows 10, to set up my MCE remote to work with some video players - VLC and MPlayer / SMPlayer. Once I started defining actions for button events in EG, I had a bunch of cases where I got double events - or in some cases, two different events (the one I wanted, and something else). After tangling with it for a while, lots of web searches, etc., I realized what was happening. The built-in Windows 10 MCE remote driver has a table of key events that it generates when buttons are pressed (pretty sure these are still the same key actions designed for Windows Media Center in Windows 7). So, once I defined an action in EG, my programs would see two key events for most remote buttons - one generated by the Windows driver, and a second generated by EG. Depending on the keyboard event I mapped to a remote button in EG, the Windows and EG key events were not necessarily the same.

One option was to just live with whatever key mappings were produced by the Windows driver, but that was wasn't going to be a very satisfactory solution. But eventually, I stumbled across a tool called AdvancedMCERemoteMapper (I'm new here, and not sure what the policy is on posting links). This allows you to redefine the Windows key actions associated with each button. The button / key action mapping is stored in a table in the Windows registry, but the tool makes it straightforward to change all the definitions and save it. In my case, I simply disabled most of them, so I'm now defining everything in EG.

So - this may or may not be your issue. But I strongly suspect that you're getting the built-in Windows actions, plus another set generated by some other program (whether it's EventGhost or something else entirely).
