Trying out version 5, problems.

Hello,

Could someone tell me the following? I have version 4 installed. I want to try out version 5. I can't figure out how to stop version 4 from starting upon Windows restart and have 5 start instead. Can anyone give me some directions. I have followed the Windows 5 installation instructions.

Hit the Windows button, type Services, then right click on the NPVR Recording Service, and click stop. You could also view the properties of the service to set it to manual start up, so that it doesn't start with windows.

So I set the service to manual, restarted the pc and now neither version 4 nor version 5 start in a browser and I still have version 4's tray icon.

The icon for v4 will still be running. Just ignore it (or uninstall v4).

What happens when you try to start NextPVRServer.exe? or did you run installservice.bat?

I ran installservice.bat, but it didn't seem to fix the problem. I noticed that the "path to executable" for the service is:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NRecord.exe"

I have the version 5 installed in Program Files thus: "C:\Program Files\NPVR\NextPVRServer.exe"

A JPG of the DOS Window when running "NextPVRServer.exe" is attached. If I close that window, the web browser will not work anymore.

Version 4 is working pretty good and don't want to really uninstall it.

If you go back into Services, do you see "NextPVR Service" listed? If you right and select Start, do you get any error? If you open your browser to http://127.0.0.1:8867/index.html, do you see the web app?

To be clear "NPVR Recording Service" is the v4 service.

If you right click v5's InstallService.bat, and start it with 'run as administrator', you should see another service in that list called "NextPVR Service".

Didn't work. The Version 4 service is the only nextPVR service in my services after running the batch file as admin in my version 5 folder. I do notice in the DOS window a message that says "The service name is invalid".
