Which Kodi plugin to use KNEWC or pvr.nextpvr ?

Having tried NextPVR V4 with Kodi my main issues seemed to be with Live TV timeshift being a bit flaky, as well as live TV being slow to start.

I'm currently trying with V5 and hear talk of using the 'New' client in Kodi for best results, but which one should I be using KNEWC or PVR.NEXTPVR and what is the difference/benefits?

In pvr.nextpvr v5 timeshifting is improved over v4 timeshifting and certainly worth a try.

Don't worry about knewc that is for users that want the NextPVR Windows client UI.

A dumb question but which repository/site should I be getting the latest pvr.nextpvr kodi plugin from?
Had a search in kodi for it but only found the old plugin.

Since pvr.nextpvr is a Kodi built in it depends on your distribution. Custom distributions like LibreElec, CoreElec, OSMC are behind if that is what your are using.

No distro, just self installed on my win 10 box.
The only one I can find is the one I was using with NextPRR V4, version 3.3.18. Is that the current one to use with V5?

Yes that is current for Leia. It's old either it was just released two weeks ago.

Under NextPVR V4 timeshifting was a bit dodgy and sometimes crashed Kodi, what settings should I make for best compatibility with V5?

The old plugin didn't give you a timeshift option. Extended Timeshift and Timeshift function exactly the same in v5 so you can use either and if you move back to v4 you don't have to change settings. If you like a bigger buffer use the web browser to change the buffer time.

I haven't had any issues with v5 timeshift but Real Time is still faster if you like zapping between channels.

Just remind me, what are the differences between Timeshift and extended timeshift?

In v4 Extended Timeshift allows you to record the show in progress from when you started watching it (great feature I hope that sub can allow in v5) and for my tuners it is much more stable then regular Timeshift which I can easily crash. It is also much slower for tuning.
