I'm considering switching my NextPVR server to a Raspberry Pi 4. I'm currently using a Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD USB tuner on a Ubuntu 19.04 system. I'd probably use the .deb installer on the Pi. Will the WinTV-DualHD work with NextPVR on the Pi?

I'm only interested in ATSC OTA recording...playback will be done using the AppleTV client. I would use a USB external hard drive for the data.

Advice/comments/opinions appreciated.

Thanks...

Probably. It has worked on other Linux platforms. You’d probably need to try it and see.

I notice that there are now Kodi v19 nightlies now for TvOS which is tempting me to buy one.

Just to follow up on this...

It seems to work just fine...better, even, than on my old windows box running Ubuntu.

Running on a Raspberry Pi 4B with 4G, recording into a USB 3.0 external hard drive.

So far, so good...

Hi zed, I'm curious as to how you were able to get NextPVR working on your Raspberry Pi 4? Which OS are you running?

I ask because the "Scan Channels" feature does not currently function in NextPVR v5 on my Raspberry Pi 4 running the latest version of the Raspberry Pi OS (32-bit) -- apparently there is some kind of issue with dvbv5-scan not working for the Pi. See https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...pid=554417

Actually, I haven't used NextPVR or been on the forum for quite a while now so I can't speak to the latest version. I was running Ubuntu Server 20.04 on the Pi, the 64 bit version...I had run into some issues with file size limitations using the 32 bit version. I used the instructions posted here on the forum to install NextPVR and I don't recall having any issues with scanning, it mostly just ran. I did find some other issues later with shows that always failed...you can probably still find my posts if you search.

That's about all I can offer. Hope you figure it out...
