I keep trying to like the new Nextpvr but I cant seem to get it to work in any way reliably.
1. Cannot watch ANY live TV now, broken in this latest release and the last though in the last one it kinda worked until I switched the transcoding from CPU to Vaapi. That didnt work at all, black screen. Switched back to cpu and nothing since despite a remove and a purge with a new install.
2. Recordings kinda works but frequent freezes. Not possible to watch a recorded show, stops, starts, transcoder exits. Although if I keep hitting my right mouse button it will play perfectly, ugh. Its a logitech anywhere 2 wifi mouse that works flawlessly anywhere else.
3. Tried the 200211 version, same issues. Enourmously high cpu usage, due to browser I guess. VLC plays nextpvr recorded video with no issues and 12-18% cpu usage. Vlc CAN connect to nextpvr stream using the 127 address copied from the bottom of the screen but immediately fails saying no stream.
4. Now when I try to watch a recorded show I get "Failed to start requested stream". I get the same message when I try to watch a tv channel live.

well the version 3 revs back at least allowed me to watch and record live video without issues. Replay was not possible, a dozen or more freezes on a 30 minute Big Bang Theory rerun. And yet VLC would play it flawlessly.

Im sure Ive done something wrong. I mean Beta software is supposed to have at least its basic functionality. Right now I use Nextpvr for the EPG and recording and VLC to watch everything. Live ota is not an option, I must goo back to the tv for live anything.

Anyone have better luck with Mythtv?

Not really much in the mood to try and help after reading through that post, but it looks like your tuner wasn't able to lock any channels so can't expect much on the live tv side.

Sub did implement a big change in the browser recording playback for this build not a regression. It wasn't tested much, not sure why your old SD recordings don't transcode well, perhaps because of upscaling.

If the browser is causing so much concern why not just use Kodi, it is a far more mature client.

This isn't the normal experience, or we'd be hearing a lot more about it.

I'm happy to help you work through your issues, but ultimately I need to focus on a single issue at a time, rather than just a big unload of every random thing you can think of and a random set of logs, with no idea what those logs show.

Let's start with vaapi off. Reboot, to restart everything cleanly (and reset the logs), then reproduce this issue, then post the logs: (ie, try watching a live tv channel via vlc http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=123)

Ok.
1. Cold booted machine.
2.Selected Brave browser.
3. It opened with 127.0.0.1:8866 opened. Reloaded web page.
4. Selected "Recordings", selected recorded show.
5.Recorded video started playing, picture frozen within 8-10 seconds while audio continued. After 15-20 seconds pictur resumed in sync with audio. Froze again while audio continued after maybe 20 seconds. Picture and audio continued freezing every 10-15 seconds. Finally at 6:59 elapsed time picture and audio both froze with no recovery.
6.Selected "Settings", log files.
I will do the same setup, i.e. cold boot, browser refresh, etc for live tv and vlc playing video stream over the day, work calls so I cant do it all at one sitting, sorry.

Have you tried using a more common browser? The browser is spamming the web server.

Yes I have, epiphany and chrome. Though I dont understand why the most secure browser out there would be spamming anything.

The player.js code is doing it not specifically the browser. It is known not to work with at least one browser.

As I mentioned above, I'm specifically after logs for VLC first (since I'm aiming to start without transcoding, since there is more that can go wrong). I'm happy to initially focus on playback of a recording. You may need to initially start playback in the web browser first, so that you can copy the playback url at the bottom of the player page. After that restart nextpvr (to restart the logs), then try playing the recording in VLC, then post the logs again.

When we do start looking you web playback issues, we'll get you to use Chrome for any tests. I don't use Brave or Epiphany, so I'm not aware if there is any oddities related to these (like we're aware of with Pale Moon browser).

Ok sub, yesterday I compiled and installed the 5.4.13 kernel and reinstalled the latest Nextpvr deb. The system is running substantially better now. I booted the machine, went into Nextpvr browser and started playback of a recorded show. Flawless operation. So I copied the url at the bottom of the screen, closed the browser, restarted the nextpver-server and opened VLC. After pasting the url into the network streaming page it played flawlessly. I then opened the Nextpvr browser, selected "Settings" and logs. I could not find any VLC specific log files.
