Sub,

A problem that has plagued me (and a few other users) in V4 is playback of a recording suddenly jumping to video fast forward (with normal audio) when there is a "blip" in the recording file's data or sometimes when performing a forward skip.

See https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...056&page=4 as an example.

I've been playing around with V5 recently and was hoping this problem would go away with all the excellent rewrite work but I've now found it is consistent in V5 as well.

I have a recording which hits a blip in the data stream about 4mins into playback. If the Microsoft decoders are selected, the playback freezes at this point. Sometimes it may restart after about 10 seconds but thereafter the video is jumpy and pixelated.

If the LAV decoders are selected, the video jumps to fast forward at the point of the blip (with sound continuing at a normal pace).

It is very difficult to skip over the point of the blip but if you succeed, video & sound are perfectly normal until the end of the recording.

If I play the file in VLC, video freezes for a couple of seconds at the point of the blip, but then continues with normal video/sound.

I can send you a copy of the file if you want to take a look?

The playback components used in nextpvr.exe in v5 are largely the same components as used in v4, so I wouldn't expected them to behave very differently. There is a new client coming at some stage that will use different playback components.

Yes, please supply the file and I'll take a look.

Hi Sub,

Have you had chance to download the file yet?

I've downloaded the file, and quickly check I'm seeing the blip and odd behaviour, which I am, but I haven't got much past that yet.

I'm in Wellington at the bottom of the north island.

Sub,
I have been having the same problem as Bobins. There was also someone with a post back in November 2019 with the same problem.
The problem seems to have been around for a while. I only started using NextPVR a couple of weeks ago. My first two recordings didn't have any problems but the next three recordings did. About half way through the play back the video began to fast forward but the audio stayed normal.
I hope you can discover why this is happening.

Are you able to supply a sample recording that shows the problem? If so, put it somewhere like dropbox or onedrive, and PM me the download link, and let m know the approximate time the issue happens.

There file itself will be fine, this will just be a playback issue in nextpvr.exe
