I record many TV programs and watch it on Kodi using NPVR as my Back-end.

For the past 2 months, when I watch my recorded TV shows, the video freezes for a few seconds and then fast forwards a few seconds when it unfreezes and continues the recorded video. This happens frequently while watching a show or when I fast forward or go backwards manually the video.

Also I would need to delete a recording twice. The first time it says something about the addon not working to check the logs. Then when I hit delete again it actually deletes it. Also it takes several seconds to delete a show once the deletion action starts.

In Windows Event Viewer it keeps showing Error as the NPVR Addon  .DLL crashing.

I reinstalled KODI and upgraded to the latest Leia version 18.6. It got better at first but now it is as bad as before. I deleted the NPVR addon from the ADDON folder in KODI in APPDATA Folder. Reinstalled it, no difference. I tried to downgrade the NPVR which is version 3.3.18 to previous version 3.3.15 but Kodi keeps installing version 3.3.18.

I have done an Ingrade upgrade of the same Windows 10 Pro (1909) version to install a clean Windows. No effect. I have restored a System Backup, no effect.

Yet when I go to KODI Movie section and I choose the Folder (TEMP) where all my TV recordings are saved by my TV Card and click on a TV Recording it works normally. Starts and closes quickly. Deletes quickly. No delays or lags. I can fast forward or go backwards without any long delays or freezes.

I have deleted several Addons that I felt might interfere with the NPVR Addon. No effect.

I am not about to do a clean install of Windows since most of the time it doesn't resolve anything.

If you need any KODI or NPVR Logs let me know to zip them and upload them.

Thanks in advance.

Please recreate the fast forward and recording delete problems and then attach NextPVR and Kodi logs to a post telling us the times of the events so that we know where to look in the logs.  Thanks.

For Kodi that would be debug logs and the location is explained here https://kodi.wiki/index.php?title=Log_file#Location Either zip the log or use the Kodi log uploader addon and paste the URL.

Definitely focus on the delete issue (I tried here and it works ok) since playback issues won't really be related to the addon. There is a crashing bug with live tv that I am waiting for sub to release, but that doesn't fit your description.

For the NextPVR logs that will be different instructions for v4 or v5. Hopefully you use v5.

When I enabled Logging in Kodi, The NPVR addon seemed to work much better. It did freeze a few times for about 30-40 seconds when I advanced the video a lot but I couldn't get the delete problem to show up. So I disabled Logging again and the Deletion problem occurred where it mentions that the PVR had an error and to check the log. But I didn't click it a second time to actually delete the TV Recording and went back to enabling Logging again. But then all the TV recordings would delete the first time I click on it.

I used KODI LOG UPLOADER and made a screen shot of the URL and zipped the entire NPVR LOG Folder and have attached both to this reply.

I also took a screen shot of Windows Event Viewer with both KODI Versions 18.5 & 18.6

By the way, NPVR and KODI have the latest versions for each installed. Plus NPVR works without any issues that I have noticed.

Thanks for the help.

Now we know it is v4 so it is not the v5 pause issue, but you need to send the logs for open files which you can get if you get the logs with Setting->About "zip up my logs.."

I am not hopeful if you can't duplicate it with debug logging on. If possible next time capture the QOR code and send the link and not the screen capture.

I remember seeing that option about zipping your log files a long time ago. But for the life of me, I can't find it anywhere in KODI settings the option to zipping its logs as you posted.

So I just went to Kodi folder and zipped all log files and crashes that were logged. There are two zip files. KODI 2 has logs with logging enabled and I finally able to reproduce the deletion error in which I needed to click delete twice to delete the TV Recordings plus the intermittent usual very long pause when advancing the video manually.

For some reason when I tried to upload the KODI files using KODI UPLOAD LOG addon, I received an error message saying it was too large to upload. That it's maximum size is 1 megabyte.

Which was the reason why I manually went to APPDATA/ROAMING/KODI and zipped all the Log and Crash files.

I did consider to upgrade to Kodi version 5 but couldn't find a download for it except, I believe nightly builds.

I am not sure if you were able to see the entire image I posted in my previous reply.

But here is the Link to that file: Https://Paste.kodi.tv/peyobiyapi

The instructions I gave where getting the NextPVR logs which I will need. Likewise I was talking NextPVR v5 not Kodi

The issue that needs investigation

2020-03-08 14:53:15.246 T:16260 ERROR: XFILE::CFileCache::Open - failed to open source <http://127.0.0.1:8866/service?method=recording.lastupdated&sid=dc0549c178894d7ca55ca519965a0f0d>
2020-03-08 14:53:15.246 T:16260 DEBUG: AddOnLog: NextPVR PVR Client: DoRequest return /service?method=recording.lastupdated 404 0 2

NextPVR should never send a 404 for that command.

I don't actually see a crash here though. What time did it show in the event log?

Sorry I misunderstood which program you were talking about. : Smile

Okay, I did as you instructed and posted the Zip file that NVPR created when I clicked on the link to create a Zip file.

The reason why I haven't installed version 5.0 because Sub mentions that if a User wanted a "stable version" to keep using version 4.xx.

Do you advice for me to update to version 5.xx BETA ? Is it stable enough for most Users to use?

Forgot to answer the second part of your reply.

It wasn't a crash per-se when I tried to delete the TV Recording.

The only thing that happens it shows a Error Menu saying something on the line of "PVR had an error and to check the logs for more information" I click on Okay and the Error Menu disappears. Then immediately I try to Re-delete the same TV Recording and this time it gets deleted without any errors.

I don't recall the time that Error message came up.
